I really don’t know what to say, I never pictured us coming close to winning any trade that involved getting rid of KD, but is it happening? Could it happen? When you factor in age and Cam Johnson + the picks, it’s starting to look more even than ever.

I think what you’re seeing is there’s a few guys in the league who can score 25-30 if given that role as top shot maker.

Problem is Durant opened up so much other stuff Bc he was so deadly everywhere on the floor.

But yea we got what looks to be like a max guy blue chipper type.

  2. Rainey06

Mikal is great and is doing our heavy lifting, but also KD doesn’t have to do as much work because the Suns are stacked.

  3. Who knows? Forming any opinion right now is far too reactionary.

  4. RiseofParallax

It’s premature to say that we won the trade but it sure as hell feels like we traded 34 year old KD for 26 year old Kawhi Leonard right now.

I think for a rebuilding team (which we sort of are) then the KD trade makes it a great opportunity for us. In terms of being a better team (for the season)… there is no way we are a better team today losing KD.

  6. StraightShootahh

Ok, I’m loving Mikal but let’s pump the brakes.

I wanna see at least a 20-25 game sample.

  7. zestysnacks

Idk about winning the trade, it’s Kevin Durant who is a top 15-20 player all time. But mikal is really good. Like a completely different player than I thought we were getting. Pretty excited to see how it goes

  8. Very happy with Brooklyn Bridges, but I’d love to see even more games before beginning to come to a conclusion.

  9. SauceGotYouLost

Is this post trying to imply Mikal is as good as KD?

Hard disagree on any argument of substance on the comparison of Bridges ans Durant.

Agree 100% on the Nets’ success in pivoting and setting themselves up for the near future.

The team as currently constructed is full of guys who got their bags, guys who are middle-of-the-road vets and guys who have something to prove and are hungry to get their bag. It’s a good mix, with good coaching.

Once they gel, it will be off to the races.

I’m hoping they all ball out from now till May/June. And I hope Marks answers the phone and listens come draft night.

I’m just excited as everyone else but I’m going to hold off on calling it a win until at least the seasons end. Small sample size imo

  12. NudeEnjoyer

I love Mikal but I definitely disagree. KD is probably the most skilled basketball player on this planet above 6’10, he’s invaluable

  13. hushed-shush

69% from the field is insane. It’s only a few games but that’s just him finding his spot on the team. I do love Mikal though. He’s working his ass off. Love him and all his teeth 😁

  14. dlamptey103

Too early to tell but the future looks good

  15. GuessTraining

Mikal is very good but KD is deadly especially during clutch situations and when you need to score buckets the most. You know those games we were down a lot in the first half? It probably wouldn’t happen if KD was still with us. Plus the sixers game where it came down to the wire, KD would’ve taken that last sec shot and will be within the time limit since he has a faster release than dinwiddie

  16. Jstizzle7

I think we really did as best as we could with both the kd and Kyrie trades. The Harden trade is a disaster.

  17. johnjohnjohn93

It’s still too early to tell but I do think this trade was the best outcome for us. I think it’s a win-win deal as the Suns will almost certainly win a title with KD assuming he stays healthy. But our team wasn’t going to win with just KD and Kyrie and I feel like it was just a forgone conclusion that KD would ask out in the summer once again. Mikal looks like a star and Cam Johnson has a ton of potential as well. Re-signing him is a must

  18. Historical-Mud-1218

It is the result of the picks that will settle this discussion. Mikal and CJ have been good but KD is all world. A great return for us but neither is a HOFer at this point.

When those picks get cashed or if the Suns win a chip, that will show who won the trade.

  19. SuckaFreeRIP

    Brooklyn Bridges doing tremendous things

  20. Losing kd is never a win but this is good for coping

  21. BKtoDuval

lol I don’t know, man. Let’s just enjoy what we got. I’m sure Suns fans are happy and optimistic going into the playoffs. We feel good about our return and future now. I’d say leave it at that. We don’t have to compare it now, just a month later. You can’t gauge these things until five years later.

Edit: This is not rational but fuggit, we need some copium now. So I’ll support it!

  22. rabidantidentyte

Nets have been in and out of contention for the past decade, but for the first time in Brooklyn I think I can say the Nets future looks good

  23. mylowerbackhurts

If they win the chip they won the trade

  24. As an outsider I’d say the suns win the trade if they win the title technically. However given the situation a very quick rebuild around Mikal, Cam, and Claxton still has great potential in the East when they are all in there primes in 3-4 years. By that time the bucks will be past their prime. Celtics won’t necessarily be the same. Miami and Philly can blow it up at anytime over the next 3 years given what their stars want. Knicks still havnt proven anything. I’d say Cavs and Magic will be the teams to compete with when they enter their primes. Nets can be a top 4 seed in the East.

  25. MasterPsaysUgh

KD has been putting up those stats for over 10 years. Bridges has been doing it for 10 games

  26. Vatfagyna

Lol bro 69 and 54 is a really big difference

  27. Navybluedotaz

I think the move may have been the rare win win, both Mikal and KD are getting something they wanted/were missing. For KD he gets to take a smaller role with a veteran heavy team and for Mikal he gets a larger role which he is ready for. Mikal has always had an incredibly high ceiling so him have more opportunities to take shots is cool to see.

  28. lindorubio

I love what our team is becoming. Considering we have some great point makers and I hope we keep clax, make camT an offer to stay and then bring in a big and get rid of Ben. I’d love to see what our record will be next year

  29. shadow_spinner0

Numbers look similar but watching games KD is a whole different animal and requires much more respect and attention than Bridges yet.

  30. TellBrak

Win loss record relevant here, comparing real numbers of games to each other — ie… how many wins per game.

Otherwise its garbage brain meme trend thinking that you can’t extend into the real world without obvious disaster.

  31. gside876

I’d say it’s a draw tbh but we need more time to evaluate

  32. acmilan12345

I think we should remain calm either way.

This sub goes from complete panic when the team loses (i.e. bemoaning how we lost the trade and how marks got swindled) to complete overconfidence when the nets win.

Realistically, this team has plenty of potential, but needs time to gel.

Personally, I’m just enjoying the rest of the season. If the team wins great. If it doesn’t, it’s not like we’re trying to contend. There’s finally room for the team to build chemistry and grow, without the pressure it had the past few seasons.
