“Any player that’s playing out of a place of fear is going to struggle. Like there’s going to just be friction in everything you try to do. But when you play for a place of just discipline and receptiveness to what the game’s giving and what you are reading from it. I think there’s a lot more opportunity. And for me, specifically, I feel like there was a lot more fear-based play in Philadelphia as opposed to what I’m doing here in Portland.”

An all defensive team player should get planning time. The role players play better when Embiid and Harden is out because there's ball movement. When they are playing people stand around while Harden dribble the shot clock out or do a pick and roll with Embiid. It is the playing style. Going to Embiid or Harden when you need a basket is fine, but the majority of the game should have that ball movement to get others involved in the game.

I don't think what thybulle said was too wrong. I literally just said last week that the roll players kinda play like they're on eggshells. I'm not saying it's a good excuse because I was always taught to man up, but it seems like these guys are scared to make one mistake because doc will cut your minutes. So I kinda half agree with him. He definitely should have improved his shot and dribble, but just look at bball Paul, if he had one bad game doc would sit him a month.
Chase you should know that rivers does not like playing young players. Teams are doing the same thing with the 37 year old they paid 10 million for.
I'm gonna say its 50/50 between doc and thybulle for who's fault it was, but it was a win win imo, we got an aggressive athletic wing that defends and spreads the floor and my favorite thing he GOES AFTER REBOUNDS, so I'm definitely happy with the trade and thybulle seems to like Portland better since it's less pressure.
The blazers don’t have championship expectations so of course there is way less pressure on him

Everybody knows doc rivers is the worst rotation coach in the league. Nobody knows what's going on game to game. One day Shake is out there, The next day D house Jr is out there randomly for the first time in 3 months. WHAT we do know is Tucker and Melton will always get starter mins regardless of effectiveness. Matisse was a good player whose confidence was destroyed by bad coaching just like McDaniels is on his way to the same exact fate.
Do the trade.
Celtics are ahead. Poole is special and that draft capital is nice. Embiid’s prime is ticking.
Doc is tough on his players, if you aren't one of the top guys on the team he tends to sit them, its tough to get better when you are given very few minutes. He also leans so heavily on his starters they run out of steam , kinda like Tibs. Many of the guys they trade seem to have more confidence and better stats as soon as they get traded. IDK but it seems like Doc is terrible at developing young guys that have upside.

He is right ✅ if he's playing in fear as soon as a young guy makes a mistake he's in the dog house hard to develop young players that way goes elsewhere and plays much better instantly 🤔
Matisse and every other younger player struggles under old man river’s system, bball Paul tweeted it last week and deleted it.. no problem with what he said and all love that he’s thriving now

Shaw and Hakeem? 😂 They both have championships. What I find interesting is that the fan base blames everybody else except for EMBIID. The man has never been out of the second round. He’s also currently injured as always. If EMBIID wants to go let him.
