Gonna be honest, I thought they’d just have him out for a week or so and just let it blow over

I’m glad the team is getting Ja the help he needs

Hm…maybe there was actually something to the alcoholic rumours.

I hope whatever he is doing helps him and he can move past everything.

He’s still behaved like a dickhead. For me personally SOME of the actions he has taken arent justified by the issues he may have. And clearly he has the wrong people around him who at best have enabled him.

But at least right now i’d like to hope he can improve as a person, and successfully battle any issues he is dealing with.

With that being said, he will be under a serious microscope for years to come. And if it IS an addicition issue, its something he will be dealing with forever. Thats the nature of them. Not saying it is or isnt addiction. Ultimately we dont know and shouldnt know unless it comes from him

  3. Well it is a good thing he is actively getting help.

Hopefully he changes his friend group around him also if this is true. Otherwise he’ll likely be right back here sooner than we think

Don’t want to assume but it’s gotta be some sort of substance abuse problem

I’m actually glad Ja is getting help and isn’t just being rushed back. Long-term it’s better for him, the Grizzlies, and the NBA.

Good for ja. Made some stupid ass decisions but I hope he’s able to improve himself where need be

If he’s abusing something, alcohol or otherwise, maybe this wake up call is exactly what he needed.

I’ve seen it ruin the lives of some people in my circle. It’s the most heartbreaking thing ever. Luckily, Ja has the resources and support system to get help if needed.

This is good actually. It shows how genuine he wants to change. I thought he’d be back after a week. Both sides taking it slow and making sure he’s ready to back.

Damn. Chris Mullin went into a program his 3rd year, probably saved his career. Hope the same with Morant.

We gonna meme this too or finally accept that he’s taking steps to get his shit together? Alcohol addiction is real and ruins lives. Hopefully Ja comes away from this a better person and ditches that friend group. His actions, behavior, and choices have been horrid. Hopefully he turns it around whenever he returns

Love the differences between reddit and Instagram comments on this post

Reddit: damn that’s just sad, he really does have some issues and I hope he can get the rehabilitation he needs

Instagram: the NBA tryna get Ja out of the league for going to the booty club and owning a glock #freeja

  13. wwaffles

I really hope that this whole situation was the wake up call that he needed. Happy that he’s getting help.

Actually seems like someone identifying and genuinely trying to fix their issues. I hope this has a happy ending for him.

  15. Competitive_Quiet179

This is good step in the right direction.

Hoping Ja can work on himself and return to the Grizzlies as a better player and a better man

  16. This tracked pretty early into this whole cycle of drama, but a giant chunk of this sub refused to see it and there was zero room for empathy.

I don’t like Ja whatsoever, but I hope he can get over his addiction and maybe that stops his asshole behaviors like threatening kids.

Hopefully r/nba can have a little learning about behaviorial treatment and psychology in general. I’m flaired, but also a licensed therapist and I’ve been pretty disgusted with comments lately.

  18. Viciouscauliflower21

Sucks for Memphis but good for him. I hope he gets all the help he needs

  19. openlatenight

Are all the r/nba commentators who were clowning on the head coach saying this last week gonna take their comments back?

I’m an alcoholic and I’m turning 6 years sober next Saturday. I wish the best for this kid. From my experience and what I’ve been told from my doctors according to medical evidence, support groups are one of the most important parts to get sober.

Alcohol and cocaine are a bitch when you have unlimited funds.
