Beat the Knicks, injury to Giannis, 76ers collapse under pressure (Harden, Doc), The West isnt very good.
Thats our path, possible yes. But not 2nd most likely like this article says.

These are supposed to be controversial to generate views. We definitely aren’t the second most likely team to win the title
DaDrFunk
Yeah… we’re not beating the Bucks, or the Nuggets if we get that far, but cool I guess.

I’ll be trilled to make the ECF. That could help us land a veteran or two on the cheap for bench depth.

Guys at 92.3 won’t want to hear that, meanwhile they’re convinced the Browns are a Super Bowl team like every year

b-ref has us near the top too. This isn’t a surprise, as the Cavs have had an elite defensive rating and net rating all year, and those are the key metrics that drive simulations. The computers really loved last year’s team too, before the injuries piled up and the wheels came off. There are times where this team looks like they could prove the simulations correct. Defense travels, and ‘wins championships’. They’ve been great at rim protection. And we have 3 guys who can create their own shot in Garland, Mitchell and Levert. But there are also times where they look totally lost offensively at the end of games (last night and about 10 other times), can’t inbound the ball, turn it over, jack up long 2’s and go minutes without a bucket. And they can’t get boards/give up too many second chances. I think how deep they go depends on 3pt shooting variance, and how well JB adjusts to in-game and series-long tactical moves by his opponents. These factors are always the case for any team’s playoff run, and in a year without any prohibitive favorites there is no reason these Cavs can’t make a deep run. Or get booted in 5 by the Knicks. Can’t wait to see

If you check the Vegas odds right now (looking at Fanduel), the Cavs are in 9th, which seems like a pretty nice deal:
Nobody is more pessimistic about the Cavs than Cavs fans. There’s so much parity in the league this year — no team is truly scary — so anything could happen.
That said, I just hope we win a series this year. That’s a win.

I’m not scared of Philly. Not the team that lost to Trae Young and the dude they traded away.
Bucks will beat our ass though, so the path to the finals is Sixers pass the bucks for the one seed, we beat them, Celtics beat bucks.
liljacobs05
There’s no way we have better title odds than the Bucks??

Well ya wouldn’t know it if you get your sports takes from literally anywhere else.

I’ll take the under.
ECF would blow my mind this year.

I know this is hype and clickbait, but I genuinely think we have a chance going all the way. Playoff whistles are a lot different than the regular season, and we already don’t get a lot of calls/free throws per game. I like our chances.
The only thing that is going to hold us back is 4th quarter stagnation.
lagrange_james_d23dt
I think we match up well against the Celtics, but poorly against the Sixers and Bucks, so if we could play the Celtics in the semis, and then a worn down Bucks or Sixers, we have a chance. If we play the Bucks or Sixers in the semis, I think we’re losing that series.

I don’t know if we can beat the sixers in a series.

Not playoffs related but i scrolled down and looked at the top 125 list. I bet it killed Simmons to even have Mitchell at 14th in the player rankings on his website. Known Mitchell Hater ever since he made Tatum look like a child in Summer league 6 years ago.

We haven’t seen this team in a 7 game series yet, so I’m holding predictions until we see what that looks like. Seems like these games at the end of the year are exactly what we need to prepare to see a team night after night. I’m obviously hoping that we are going to be great, Don turns it up and the twin towers eat everything down low. Other teams have to be scared of us. Not one team wants to see us in the first round. If we’ve learned anything about this team this year, when it comes to winning, especially in OT, we always look like we want it more. Opponents in the playoffs are looking at a team that’s Undefeated in OT, has a legit superstar(top 15-20 league wide), top 10 PG, top 10 C, Twin towers, 2 defensive specialists(Mobley and Okoro) a couple of sixth man type guys that each has a specialty (Cedi(3s), Stevens(dawg), Caris(ball handler)), always in the top 3 defense. There are more things we have, but if you watched the games this year that we lost, no way are teams shooting 50%+ from 3 through 7 games. They may get lucky and we drop one or two games, but the series? No way. I’m more curious to see how we adjust the lineups and counter a team’s strategy while the series plays out. Well, my lunch is over, so end rant lol

My two teams :)))))

Literally will just be thrilled if we beat the Knicks
bob_scratchit
Beating any of Boston, Milwaukee, or Philly in a seven-game series would make the season a success, imo. They’re all teams that have been fighting for the top spot in the East for years and are all likely at the peak of their title contention window. Cavs are just ramping up their window, so it says a lot if we could knock any of them off.
