@Toronto Raptors

I was on tiktok and found a throwback toronto page that posted about the Andrea primo commercial being the darkest point as a raptors fan. I was younger at that time and didnt get the context. Could anyone explain?

Andrea Bargnani endorsed Primo pasta. Primo pasta and Andrea Bargnani both suck.

Glad I could clear that up for you.

  2. Chris Bosh was our star player (and most likely going to leave us) and our up and coming player was Andrea Bargnani with a bunch of role players.

Truly some depressing times that I wouldn’t want to relive. Imagine having to watch those Raptors and having to watch this commercial 2-3 times per break.

Bargs was being force down our throats as the star of the team. He was barely a starter. We had to get rid of GG so we could get rid of Bargs.
Soon after Lowry and DeRozan took after and we were good again.

I preferred the Big Bargnani pizza at Pizza Pizza personally

It must have hurt the big fellas Italian heart to endorse those places

Not even close to the lowest point/worst time to watch. Rafael Araújo ring a bell? Joey Graham?
Andrea wasn’t what we expected as the 1st pick, but definitely wasn’t as useless as many make him it to be. He posted 21pts/game, 2 blocks/game, 5.2 rebound/game in his best season…. Not great, but not worst player talk. Still top 10 all time Raptor in many categories: https://www.nba.com/stats/team/1610612761/franchise-leaders

I take this as an opportunity to ask: what do you think of Bargnani? Would he fit more in a modern NBA context? I feel like he had most of the skills teams currently look for in a big, especially offensively. He wouldn’t be a Raptor-kinda player tho. He never had the right mentality and ethics of work, and it was even more obvious when he played for Italy. I love him, but I’m glad both the Raptors and Italbasket moved on.

He would THRIVE in the nba if he was drafted today.

I’m just going to stay lying to myself that he was just drafted too soon.

That Turk Pizza Pizza commercial is 10x worse than this imo

Prime VC traded for spare pieces is the darkest point in this team’s history. Sure we had more slumps since, but seeing him roar back in Jersey was heartbreaking in a way this never was.

we went from him being a promising no. 1 pick on the team that won the atlantic division (47-35) to him being the no. 1 option on a 22-60 team 4 years later.

The nephews who started becoming raps fans during the Kawhi era don’t know true pain.

  12. I remember the glorious few moments where we actually won the division in Bargnani’s first season and thought “oh wow, we’re gonna do so well!”

How young and naive I was…

Not even close to being the lowest point. Lowest point in my opinion was trading away vince carter for a half eaten bag of chips.

Those were dark times. But masked bargs was fun few games to watch lol

Nothing wrong with the commercial specifically. It was just something they played on tv often back then when the team sucked. So it’s like a reminder of how bad they used to be when you watch the commercial lol

You ever watch NBA TV Canada and notice how the same ad plays 15 times an hour?

Well that ad was the one getting played 15 times an hour, and it was bad on its own as just a standalone ad, but it also featured our #1 pick overall bust that was out there stumbling around completely lost every game. Every time his stupid face came on the TV you wanted to punch the screen.

The only good thing was cheap tickets. I remember you could find deals and get really nice seats for $50. Good view. It was a deal though.
