[Hine] Russell (2/2): “… If you’re not here or you haven’t lived here or anything like that, then you’re not aware of how good of a city it is and a sports town.”
Basketball aside, I hope we still applaud Dlo as a person who challenged and helped engage the fanbase.
D’Lo was always a consummate professional off the court and I’ll always appreciate that.
Conley is a better fit but D’Lo definitely had his moments. Will root for him in LA except for when he plays us.
Let’s please not boo him tonight
I’m glad he’s not our PG anymore but I respect him for saying this.
Russell (2/2): “… I’m at the point of my career where I am who I am. I’ve said it before, if a team is going to utilize me and take advantage of me, then, smart team. If not, then opposite of a smart team.”
He literally just called our team dumb right after lol 😂
Man ill always have love for dlo getting the fans and the crowds back into the arenas. He was one of the few guys for the wolves who challeneged fans to get in tc and be loud
Memba when he called us quiet ass fans?
Russell was a step in getting this team to where it is now. Expectations, fan base, etc are all better now than when he came.
Will be disappointed if we don’t give him a big applause tonight.
His stans make the discourse around him insufferable, and almost makes you resent him as a player at times, but I think he really bought into being here, especially last year. He unironically was one of the biggest reasons for our resurgence as an organization, and for our playoff run last year.
The “quiet ass fans” comments will always be legendary in my eyes, he really brought the life out of the fans at TC ever since that moment.
D’Lo was a huge part of changing the culture of Target Center and I’ll always love him for that. I was pretty down on him when we got him but I’m a huge fan now.
Aww I love this. My 5 year old is a Dlo stan and will be wearing his jersey tonight and probably rooting for the Lakers 🙃
He has nothing bad to say about Minnesota, funny, a lot of people on this sub have a lot of bad things to say about him.
I love dlo, sad to see him go, but happy both teams are flourishing post-trade.
I’m really glad DLO has kind words because his signing really got be back into Wolves basketball for the first time in awhile.
I hope we cheer the hell out of him at the start of the game tonight. To show him love of course, but also a certain portion of Lakers fans can be pretty toxic towards players, so Id like to show some of them how much a smaller market city can appreciate their team.
All the people that participated in the DLo hate thread better not be in here acting like they wish him well
Despite some of his flaws, I really enjoyed having D’Lo on our team and I’m happy to hear he liked it here. We’re not a perfect team either and there were opportunities where he could have just said fuck it. He never did, so for that I will always appreciate him.
best part of the D Lo trade was trading the D Lo stans to the lakers fanbase
So basically he’s saying there’s nothing to do here and that gave him time to work on his life outside of basketball. A little tongue in cheek by dlo, not surprised.
I want to see D’Lo drop an efficient 50 points in a Lakers loss tonight. I’ll definitely cheer for him.
DLo is going to light up the target center tonight. He tends to show up in revenge games like our old friend Mr Wiggins. He can score 30 all night as long as the wolves win lol
Overall, I appreciate enough what DLo brought, and him encouraging more fan involvement. I think he was always pretty open to signing autographs to make some kids day at games which is nice. I don’t miss his game though honestly, and am pretty happy with the trade we made. Conleys style of play has endeared himself to me already than several years of DLo
I will be sporting my Dlo jersey at the game tonight🙏🧊
DLo has been traded 4 times in his career already. I think he gets the nature of the business and didn’t take it personally.
It’s okay to like him as a person and still admit that he wasn’t a good fit for our team and that it just wasn’t going to work out here. Y’all are acting like people aren’t allowed to separate the 2.
DLo is a good pro and a good man, but also royally sucked at running our offense.
He came a long way on the court too. When he arrived, he was an obvious detriment, a net negative when he was on the court.
I said at the beginning of Finch’s first full season, his biggest task would be to somehow get a positive out of Russell. Maybe not to the level of his salary, but to a point where he wasn’t actively hurting the team.
I think he did that. Russell matured. He became more accepting of his role…the rapid rise of Ant helped that more than anything, but still it happened. He jettisoned delusions of being the hero, played smarter, still with the occasional patented Russell brain farts, but better overall. He is a talented passer and shooter after all, he just had to learn to blend it into the team concept better.
Don’t get me wrong, I wasn’t sorry to see him go. His salary was still too big of a hit, and Conley was just what this team needed right now. So I’m glad for the trade. But just saying that I went from dreading when he was on the court to not minding him, and occasionally really appreciating him.
