Am I crazy for thinking we win this by double digits?

If we can win this and Hawks lose to Mavs today, then we take 9th.

  3. If the Bulls are going to move past the Hawks and Raptors into the 8 seed, they could really use an upset over the Grizzlies tonight. They are playing at home and are as healthy as they have been all year, so they have a shot.

The Grizzlies are only favored by 3 points. Steven Adams, Brandon Clarke, and Zaire Williams are out and John Konchar is questionable. Little-used Vince Williams is also questionable. For the Bulls, Lonzo Ball is of course out, but Javonte Green and Alex Caruso are listed as probable, which is great news.

Although the Grizzlies have been hot lately, they are 15-22 on the road, and the last time they beat a top-6 in conference opponent on the road was December 23rd. So there’s reason for hope.

The Grizzlies’ guards Ja Morant and Desmond Bane are their primary scorers. The Bulls may try to double and trap them, in which case they need to contain third option Jaren Jackson, Jr. They can sag off Dillon Brooks, who is shooting .323 from three and .450 from 2. Dare him to shoot.

Meanwhile Jackson is leading the league with 3.1 blocks per game and is neck and neck with Brook Lopez for Defensive Player of the Year (although I think Giannis deserves to be in that discussion — and ironically may take votes away from Lopez). Jackson also has a tendency to foul, though, averaging 4.6 fouls per 36 minutes. It would be really nice if the Bulls could get him into foul trouble. But that may mean challenging him at the rim.

The Grizzlies have something to play for as well. They are only 2 games behind the first-place Nuggets and 2 games ahead of the third-place Kings in the West. It should be a good test for the Bulls, but it is winnable. And with only five games left in the season, and the 8 seed at stake, time is running out.

Ik it’s said every game around this time of year, but this is maybe the biggest must-win given we’re playing the Hawks next. If Hawks lose today and we win, we can really get a lead over them if we beat them since we also own the tie breaker. With the Bucks game being a back-to-back, there’s a *slight* chance they rest Giannis depending on Boston and Philly’s position. But more than likely that’s a loss.

Raptors got Hornets twice and then 3 very loseable games. But IIRC, they own the tie breaker so we really need to get close to winning out to take the 8 seed and it starts with one of the tougher games today
