I’m a collector of Mavs and Dirk cards and memorabilia and this might be my favorite piece in my collection. I purchased this piece of the Mavs court in a charity auction about a decade ago. I can’t remember what I paid for it or when the auction took place. Unfortunately after a quick search I came up empty on details related to the auction.
Like I mentioned before this is my favorite piece of memorabilia in my collection. I do not own game worn jerseys, shoes or balls. I own game worn “patches” in cards and a few autographs but nothing with as much significance as this small piece of wood.
I really like that the piece I received is painted blue and covered in scratches and scuff marks from battles in the paint (or sidelines.) With Dirk being inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame I felt like I needed to pull it out and wanted to share it with all of you.
I would like to put it in a nice case to display it on a wall one day, when I do I’ll probably end up sharing it with all of you once again.
> This is a small piece of a court that has been host to:

– 492 Consecutive Sellouts
– 503 Games (443 Regular Season & 60 Postseason)
– 381 Wins (344 Regular Season & 37 Postseason)
– 51,971 Points Scored by the Mavs (45,814 Regular Season & 6,157 Postseason)
– 3 Headcoaches (D. Nelson ’97-’05, A. Johnson ’05-’08, R. Carlisle ’08-’21)
– 2 Western Conference Championships (2006 & 2011)
– 1 NBA Championship
– 1 Championship Banner Ceremony (12/25/2011)

I have this also. It was given as a gift for being a season ticket holder. I’ve had tickets for 6 seasons now and I think I got this in 2019. Mine is #7144 and it’s signed by Cuban. It’s also my favorite piece.

It would have been cool if you knew which section of the court the plank came from – could have found out if any iconic plays occured on it!
