[Slater] There’s a reason Wiggins hasn’t been ruled out for the season. There remains a belief he might show up in the coming days. It isn’t blind ambition. There’s been some level of signaling.

From [Slater’s game report](https://theathletic.com/4374481/2023/04/03/warriors-final-week-whats-at-stake/?source=emp_shared_article), there’s this Wiggins snippet:

> But the larger story below the surface for the Warriors this week concerns Andrew Wiggins’ status. For a couple of weeks, there have been varying levels of optimism within the franchise — coach Steve Kerr and Steph Curry have called it a “hope” — that Wiggins will reappear before the playoffs. But as of Sunday, he still hasn’t reported back, missing his 48th day and 22nd consecutive game Sunday while dealing with a personal matter.

But the clock is ticking and nobody behind the scenes is guaranteeing anything. Wiggins has told them he has been working out privately recently, but an intake process and some amount of ramp-up will be needed if he does return.

No idea what “There’s been some level of signaling” means, but hopefully not just Jason Dumas’ Tweet about Wiggs being back in the Bay Area…

But then when he does come back it’s not a sure thing he’s in game shape. We need him in shape and not the version of him who just recovered from flu during the start of the season.

well we’ve got three games left. I don’t see much point in rushing him back for the rest of this stretch imo. If this team is serious about wanting to repeat, they take care of business either in the form of a first round appearance or a play-in appearance.

  3. The way those two paragraphs are worded so dramatically when it provides no new information beyond what we already knew is honestly just annoying and so unnecessary lol

This is why it’s bullshit. It’s the most important part. There’s only 7 days left in the regular season. If we land in the play-in, which is a strong possibility, we’re not making the playoffs. So there’s no way that Wiggins will be able to ramp up and be game ready by Sunday. His home, personal workouts won’t be enough to skip that ramp up process.

Honestly at this point I’m tired of reading about it. If his plan is only to return for the playoffs that’s not really helping because we need to actually make it to the playoffs.

The level of signaling is Warriors desperation. Just a little subtle pressure for him to come back.

honestly just wish they’d stop mentioning him like he’s our last hope, he’s been gone for weeks, even if he comes back (which I doubt) he’s gonna be rusty as fuck and that’s not even considering the mental affect of whatever he’s going through.

like just stop talking about bruh, its making it worse.
