Apologies if this was already posted
Bleacher Report has an article out talking about potential offseason trades, and one they list is Simons and Keon Johnson for OG Anunoby and Thaddeus Young. Idk about you guys, but I’d make that trade in a heartbeat. A starting 5 of: Lillard, Sharpe, Grant, Anunoby, Nurk would theoretically be a very solid squad. What do you guys think? Would you make the deal?

Yes lmao Keon has huge upside trust us
I’d like OG a lot and he makes us better but I’m not sure he’s good enough to be THE big all in move
Yes. Much needed roster balance.
I’d do that OG trade in a heartbeat. Our starting lineup would be pretty awesome: Dame | Sharpe | OG | Grant | Nurk
I actually like the move. We don’t give up picks. OG at 3 is a good move and Young is a solid bench frontcourt player. Resigning Thybulle and JG will be crucial. A starting lineup of Dame, Thybulle, OG, JG, Nurk can compete. Not saying a contender but def a playoff team. Reason i said Thybulle to start is because we will need Sharpe to be the scorer off the bench. Thybulle next to Dame is ideal. We get a legit back up pg and and some add bench pieces now we doing something in the positive. Dame wants a team that competes. If JG, Sharpe or even Nurk can step up and be a legit number 2 who is in the top 50 PER that will go a long way to us really competing
Yeah, that’s a no-brainer move for Blazers (Raptors likely laugh). OG dramatically improves the team in the current Dame timeline and is still young enough to be a factor or a decent trade chip should the Blazers need to pivot in a year or two. You’d want to be comfortable with OG’s extension number however.
Even Thaddeus Young would be a useful bench big as a PF and small-ball center. If this were ever offered, I’d hope Cronin wouldn’t hesitate.
The Blazers are in a very unique position this off-season with multiple directions they can pivot in. It ultimately depends on where we land in the draft, and what package is available in the trade market. Depending on who we draft we can keep him, or package him in a potential trade with Simons plus picks, or they can hit the reset button and trade Dame to add more young talent on a very intriguing new young core.
Nice thing about the west is that there are a lot of scenarios that could lead to a star shaking loose in the trade market.
Mavs – could miss the playoffs. Kidd could get fired, Kyrie may not re-sign. Does Luka stick around for another coach and less talent on the roster?
Wolves – went all in on the Gobert/Towns experiment. It hasn’t looked great. They are still a play-in team, but now with less talent and less draft capital. Their most realistic path to bouncing back would be to trade KAT.
Pelicans – I doubt they break up their core. But they’ve come this far without Zion. BI is really blossoming as the #1 in New Orleans. Maybe Zion is too much of a liability and they think they can improve by trading him?
(Fuck the) Lakers – they’ve seemingly bounced back after a death spiral into the lottery. They have been trending upward since the deadline, found some chemistry during lebron’s injury, and now they control their destiny to the playoffs. BUT can LeBron and AD stay healthy for 3 rounds? If they suffer an early exit, maybe the Lakers see the writing on the wall with bron and bronny teaming up in a couple years and try and get some value from him before he jumps ship to a lottery team that will draft bronny.
Suns vs Clippers – these teams were both touted as contenders to start the season. So a first round exit is pretty shitty for either team. Suns lose, maybe Ayton gets shopped around as bait for a point guard to replace an aging Chris Paul.
Clippers lose, maybe the Kawhi/PG pairing is just too unreliable since they are always hurt. I could see PG being shopped in that scenario.
Kings vs Warriors. – I don’t think the kings will dangle too much talent for trade. Their first playoff series in 2,167 years and they are a 3 seed. That’s pretty impressive, they may run it back. BUT the warriors are the reigning champs. They’ve been here before. They are a 6 seed, but every veteran on that team knows they will win that series.
So if the warriors lose? Draymond or Klay could be on their way out. The warriors are getting older. They’ve got alot of youth. They may pull a (less drunk) version of the blazers and put younger pieces around curry to transition into their next phase.
Not to say all of these guys are people we would go after or that any of these scenarios even come close to true.
But I envision alot of movement in the west this off-season.
Awesome quote, “would truly transform Blazers into an above average unit”. 😂
I would rather Precious than Young. If you trade Ant you have nobody but Dame who can handle the ball. If you get a backup big/rebounder back in trade, then you can look to use the MLE on a backup ball handler.
Young has a PNG deal, and with his production I wouldn’t take TOR’s bad money, and give them a 20 PPG starter, and a FRP prospect, and a high draft pick, and…
I also wouldn’t give up all of POR’s assets for OG, just after finally unfucking the situation NO put the franchise in. If you do, then you have nothing left to upgrade the rest of the roster.
Yup. Sign me up.
I would be willing to put a 2024 first with that trade. Thaddeus is only $1 mil to buy him out.
Simons and Keon without picks? Yes please. I wonder what the Raptors sub thinks about that 😂. Reality is OG has one year left, could be happier with his role, and they have both their starting guards in FA this summer, both looking for substantial raises.
Pivoting to Simons isn’t bad but you definitely need to find a solid defender to pair him with back there. Also would probably signal a Siakam exit so I’d rather go after him 🤷♂️
I would do this move but Toronto massively overvalued their players. No chance they do this.
Bro I want Poeltl so bad it’s crazy. He’s like Nurk but without the flailing, wincing, and whining.
Honestly if Clippers end up shopping Paul George I might rather go for him with Ant then OG…though OG is way younger and more likely to also work with the Sharpe time line.
Remember when we tried to trade the pick that turned into Shaedon + other real assets for OG? I continue to be so grateful that didn’t happen.
I think you have to start Shaedon next year.
