Pop was asked what he will miss once the season is over. His answer contains tea leaves, for those so inclined: “I just move on to what’s next … the draft, and the summer league and continued development of Jeremy’s shot and some other players and it just continues from there.”

Pop is staying and is building around Jeremy. You heard it here first
Got to love that. Jeremy is one of the first things on his mind. I had a feeling when the Spurs drafted him based on how they used him in the summer league that they had every intention of him being much more than just a glue guy role player. I really think he’s going to be something special and I really hope. Popovich will be around long enough to be coaching a Spurs team, a good spurs team, with him as one of the focal points
Love to hear it. With the right work ethics and attitude there’s no reason why Sochan can’t become the face of the Spurs in the next 3 years. Another guy I really look forward to is Blake Wesley. If he can just become an average finisher around the rim, he will be an absolute force on the court. No one in the NBA can stop him when he’s driving to the basket.
All his sound bites over the season have sounded like he wants more. He enjoys the challenge because the kids are hungry for his teaching.
If you followed the flap round the Mavs tank job last night, it’s also important what he *didn’t* say out loud… 🐐
I only watched about half of the games this season but from everything I’ve seen in the last year and a half of Spurs basketball, I can honestly say a core of Vassell/Johnson/Sochan/Wembanyama or Scoot could be the next Grizzlies of the league.
The skills are there for each of the players, if they’re able to play the right roles in a Pop-designed offense I think we could be a dark horse contender for the foreseeable future
