The fact we didn't try for their 1st in 24 meant we had faith in dejounte.
As a spurs fan I think they did a great thing giving us 3 1st for dj even though he didn't fit…..if you're star player is a point guard and he's and undersized point guard….then what since does it make to make your second greatest star player and undersized shooting guard,in fact in my opinion,dj is far more valuable running the point as a large pg.really decent playmaking and elite rebounding at pg position…and he has size on most points guards witch made his on ball defense better as well….the hawks clearly want both stars on floor and the truth is neither these guys can utilize their skills as effective as the 2, kind of similar to Dallas right now

Trae and the Hawks will be fine. They're young. Fans have to be patient. The DJ experiment didn't work, but that's honestly OK. We can trade DJ and recoup draft assets. None of these other teams who made blockbuster trades this season can say that.

I don't think the Hawks can win with Trae as their first guy, I also don't think they can win with DJ as their first (we just tried that), the truth is that Trae is way way way overpaid because the Hawks had one great season in 2019, and DJ is going to be too big of a contract too if he gets what he thinks he should get. Neither can lead them anywhere, but as a second or third option DJ is far better than Trae. Considering that I would be looking to trade Trae and whatever picks left for an upgrade that can make the Hawks better. Lets say Jalen Brown asks for a trade, or someone else. Point being the Hawks are in a bad spot, but they might just settle for mediocrity and we will just get a bunch of picks at 15-18 or something like that, which would be slightly disappointing
The one sad thing about DJ is that his skill set (but not personality) fits almost perfectly with the current Spurs team. We are severely lacking in defense and playmaking, both of his best qualities. I would even say sign him as a free agent if he wasn't such a douche in life. Granted Derrick White would also fit perfectly with this team
Hawks aint out the play-in we're in a comfy spot on a nice lil win streak -it aint how you start it's how you finish
