Well, at least we have some closure that this is the player’s decision here (… I think?). And, well, if the player don’t feel right, then I don’t want them pushing it.
I also still maintain someone’s head gotta roll for this stupid fucking saga that just needed Zion to talk about where he is instead of all this other bullshit the org has cooked up every 2 weeks.

As a guy whose been really hard on Zion the past few weeks; Wow….this is even worse than I thought. The extended quotes are even worse. Him fully admitting he is healthy but just not feeling it.

I’ve said in the past frequently that Griff purposely takes the heat so Zion doesn’t feel it. Could you imagine if Zion came out and said this without Griff saying anything? The fan base and social media would rip him to shreds. That was a masterclass of taking the heat from the front office. Griff had his flaws, but from almost day 1 he’s done everything to take the heat being vague and not let Zion get it.

This interview should have been done much earlier is my only complaint. Other than that, it is completely understandable. He had a setback and that messes you up mentally so I can see why he’s hesitant.

Ok, so here’s the thing with me, personally. Dude just got a huge extension. He got what he wanted. He can help the team be a force in the playoffs. When he plays, no one can hate on him.
If I’m sick, I’ll take some days off because of it. But if I get healthy and just don’t do my job because i dont feel like it, my business goes under. Before I started my own business, I had a very physically demanding, high responsibility job. I’ve showed up countless times when I was barely able to roll out of bed. And I was making a fraction of what this kid is making.
This team not only needs him, but is uniquely built around him. The fans pay to see Zion. Yes, we have a lot of other good exciting guys, but the entirety of the league only has one zion williamson.

Just gonna add that CJ has been playing with 1.5 hands most of the season. He delayed surgery to help the team. Meanwhile the guy with a mural next the the stadium is “hesitant”. 🤦🏾♂️

Injuries have a mental component and if he can’t trust his body, he won’t play to his full effective self. Do I wish he was ready, obviously, but let’s be real, we aren’t gonna do shit even if he comes back this year because they would need more time to get him worked into the rotations.
