I think you forgot to add more context, Denver was up 7/8 games for 1st place with a month left in the season. They knew all they had to play was .500 ball to lock up the 1 seed. Yes 55+ wins would've been nice but they didn't need to exhaust themselves down the stretch to chase those wins
