Need to be Cheering for a Bulls Loss Tonight!

Had to look up how the play in effects our Bulls draft pick, but appears we need them to lose to keep their 10th spot odds. Otherwise they could move up and potentially out of the lottery šŸ™

Here’s an article breaking it down a bit:

“If a 9th or 10th seeded team manages to win both of its games in the tournament it will no longer participate in the NBA Draft Lottery. Similarly, to sneak into the Draft Lottery, a 7th or 8th seeded team will need to lose both of its games in the tournament.
What if the 9th or 10th seeded teams win exactly one game? In that case, the team is still lottery-bound and its lottery odds are in a sense unaffected and are still calculated based on its regular season (72 game) winning percentage.
Similar logic applies, say, to a 7th seeded team that dropped to 8th after the play-in tournament: the picks it owns in the Draft (in the range 15-60) will still be ordered according to the regular-season record.”

I’ll be begrudgingly rooting for Toronto but Chicago could win tonight and lose to Miami on Friday and still be a lottery team.

In fact, I think Chicago winning tonight and losing Friday will lessen the odds of their pick being top 4. So that might be the ideal outcome.
