They're probably not going to make the playoffs (would need a lot of help from Thunder), but it wouldn't surprise me if Cuban intended this Kyrie trade as a two year plan, where he gives Kyrie and Luka time to gel and get a couple of good defenders in the offseason to complement them.
It's either that or it's a terrible trade, where even though you got arguably the two best offensive players in the game, they have zero defense between them, and you sacrificed your best and practically only defender (Finney-Smith) to get that.
In the meantime I'm not ready to panic and call this a wreck quite yet.
I don't know if these callers actually watch the Mavs games a lot, but even though the Mavs were 4th seed they were merely 2 games above 500. Not exactly what I would call world beaters. Kyrie definitely has a poor history with teams, and the Mavs have drastically fallen off since he got there, so it's easy to blame him. But watching the Mavs games and following events outside of the games, he's actually been a model citizen for the Mavs and have done everything he can as a player to put them in position to win games. But the idea that two ball dominant players with no defense between them will immediately magically gel offensively and start winning games (when you've just lost your best defender in Finney-Smith) is absurd to me. Another issue most of us don't seem to realize is this: Luka was on an incredible MVP pace prior to the all-star break. He was going to have one of the best offensive seasons since MJ and, even though he's not a good defender, was making incredible efforts on the defensive end. But his body couldn't sustain that pace because after the all-star break his effort on defense became non-existent, and the already reeling Mavs defense just got worse. I'm willing to bet playing all those Euro games in the offseason just took a toll on him eventually.
Last caller is stupid. It IS Cuban’s fault for not signing Brunson and keeping that core group together. Plus they didn’t even have hardaway during the whole playoff run
These clowns obviously wanted the Mavs to lose last night so they can blame Kyrie and since they won because of Kyrie they must find a way to make it look like the Mavs lost 😳
Not going to lie. I was one of those people who said that Brunson was ass lol. But, I’m here to give him props. He’s decent, not complete butt cheeks lol😂
