Cleveland Cavaliers Head Coach J.B. Bickerstaff spoke to the media following a 101-97 loss to the New York Knicks in Game 1 of the 2023 Playoffs on April 15, 2023.
This was a pathetic performance. Caris was awful missing open layups. If that is what he is in the playoffs they need to show him the door. DG showing he is the usual choke artist with 1 assist and 5 turnovers. Then Evan Mobley, guess people can stop comparing him to Tim Duncan, or KG cause they helped their teams win and none ever went 4 of 13, missing 9 in a row all at the basket in a playoff game.
Cavs need to score more efficientlyโฆIf the 3s are not falling, make adjustments to the offensive gameplay like attacking the basket with more pick and roll plays or drives. Darius Garland needs to be a better playmaker next game if the Cavs want to win Game 2. He only had 1 assist for the whole game SMH.
Anyone who watched the season knew this was coming. The wake up call is to those who only looked at the Cavs record and thought JB could actually coach. I said many times this season this is a boys club and not a team of professionals. They splash each other with water in postgame interviews after a win like they are in highschool. If you want to win with this group time to grow up and hire a experienced winner as a coach. JB was still throwing spaghetti at the wall with the lineups today after a full year of coaching the same guys. Pathetic and fans/players deserve better.
This guy canโt coach his way out a wet paper bag with scissors in his hand. Watching his team give up 10 points in a row he doesnโt call a time out, and he still doesnโt have a rotation and weโre in the playoffs. At least Kobe Altman brought in all these bums
I could tell our players were intimidated. Missing wide open layups, I get it. What I do not get is the lack of using your bigs in the low post, it's the playoffs. Mobley only had 8 points. If our bigs are not featured Cavs will be eliminated. Bickerstaff CANNOT continue to be outcoached nightly. We have two 7 footers, but don't punish smaller teams! Both should dominate offensively averaging 20-25 ppg throughout the series if you want to win. Mitchell cannot carry us in the playoffs, he's too small… USE THE BIGS IN THE LOW POST!
This guy is learning lessons during the playoffs. Heโs happy with average/mediocre. Heโs happy with lessons learned. Then go coach a middle school basketball team
JB frustrates me, consistently out-coached. I don't blame him for the turnover or missed layups. But, I blame him for Cavs not having an offense that features the two 7 footers we have. Bigs dominate in the post season. Not one post touch the entire game, No trap on Brunson the entire game… I've here saying this all season tho.
Putting in Raul Neto would of helped us on Brunson a lot & green needs playing time heโs literally a sniper. All that being said this was a winnable game we need our bigs to play more physical & get on the boards & we will win next game!
Lol, yall actin like we lost down 20pts xd, it was only 4pts yall. We had a lot of open looks, we didn't make'em, only big reason we lost. We come into a game and make one or two of those shots, we win the game. Defense did a good job (rebounds could be better, but were facing a team with good rebound % so I aint gonna hold too far off). U go into the next game with a better mindset to make those open looks, then u win the game. Only big thing I think needs improvin is just mental shottaking, get outta the hooks of the playoffs and start makin hoops. If we can get better at rebounds fine, but I doubt u improve that by Tuesday inless replays show somethin. Only way we lose future games is if we don't make our wide-open baskets.
Blaming Cedi solely is unfair. Garland, Mobley, Allen and Levert all disappeared at the biggest moment of the game. Okoro is a great defender, but he is horrible offensively (1/6 fg) being a starter and not being able to score 8 points is unacceptable the cavs started the last quarter with a difference of 10 or 11 points, Cedi and Donovan were the only ones who moved the offense If I were JB I would have let Cedi play most of the quarter until the score was level and then put Okoro in his place. But to say that Cedi is the big culprit is unfair.

refs made some horrible calls and we also played terrible and only lost by 4 , Cavs win in 6
