Here’s the 5 pacers lineups with the most played minutes. Any observations?

That we can’t play 4s if they can’t shoot
Love Jaylon, but it’s a bad fit if he’s not raining 3s.
Also that the Math+Turner+Hali combo is really good

  2. Swap Smith for Nembhard and we have a defensive identity instantly. I don’t think that is all on Smith, he needs a different defensive scheme to be successful.

My take: Mathurin + Starters is a winning recipe. Surprisingly the defense is better than with both Nembhard and Neismith on the court. Benn did get better by the end of the season but I wasn’t expecting that.

Them stats also confirms me that Jalen Smith can’t play next to Myles. I need to check how it goes when he’s the lone center

Turner and Nesmith/Nemby can cover up for the defensive flaws of Hield, Hali, and Mathurin?

When Nesmith and nembhard are on = when opponents have their best offensive players on (usually) so I might not read much into this

    Automatic starting 3:
    Tyrese
    Buddy
    Myles

Start or first off the bench:
    Bennedict

Can start or be productive off bench depending on scheme:
    Aaron
    Andrew

    Cut or Bench:
    Jalen

Imo biggest need is a legit starting PF followed by SF. Jarace Walker seems like the perfect fit for our first pick. Also, unpopular opinion, I can see us drafting a center over 7 ft. We don’t have anyone over 7 ft, we have 3 FRP, and Zach Edey keeps sliding in the draft. I can actually see the Pacers gamble on him late in the first and cut Daniel Thies. Can’t imagine the Pacers pass on the NPOY and hometown hero if they fill holes with the first 2 picks.

Nembhard is better served as the 6th man

The lineup I expect to see next season will feature two second year players and a rookie lottery pick who will be part of an 8-man playoff rotation on IND’s way to their first national championship in the National Basketball League.

I want to see Turner, Hield, Haliburton, Mathurin, and Smith get minutes

That Buddy is a tank that plays and scores a lot.

Haliburton with shooters is great for our offense. Mathurin needs to play more
