I believe that series was the closest anyone has come to blowing a 3-0 lead
What sucks is if they do half the conversation is gonna be that it was only cause draymond was out and this somehow doesn’t count. kinda crazy how the narrative went from “kings are so inexperienced” to “kings are being favored in this series” as soon as they beat people’s expectations
That ’51 Royals team was the only team to win an NBA title other than the Lakers when George Mikan was in the league. It may have only happened because Mikan was playing against the Royals in the ’51 Division Finals with a broken leg, which he accomplished by his doctor essentially tying a metal plate to his leg to keep the broken bone in place.
I was just trying to go off memory but that AdelmanWebber Kings team were in the best of 5 first round era and the west was stacked back then. Still kinda surprising.

This isn’t the greatest example but is it me or is it just trivial and annoying how much sports writers are like this is the first time this very specific thing happened since the last time it happened or the even more amazing this is the very first time this really specific situation has occurred wait to hear about it again in 50 years when it happens again. Rochester Royals is such a good name
They went up 3-0 and proceeded to lose 3 straight but managed to stop what would’ve been a historic choke by winning game 7 by 4 (last 5 games of the series where decided by 7 or less points)
Wild that Vegas has Kings as such big underdogs without Draymond.
