[Rich Hofmann] Doc Rivers had a lengthy answer on the Joel Embiid/Nic Claxton play, saying that he also thinks Draymond Green should not have been suspended. Rivers’ main point: “If we’re going to start punishing the retaliators and not the instigators, then we got a problem in this league.”

Sabonis did get a flagrant 1 though. They punished both parties.

    Embiid’s punishment = fair
    Garden’s punishment = too harsh
Draymond’s punishment = too lenient. Should have been a 2-game suspension. Even the NFL would have suspended multiple games for stomping on a player.

Basically where I’m at is, Joel should have been ejected and the refs “made up for it” with that bogus Harden call.

And while Jojo obviously went too far with his reaction, I understand it. If you’re a bumass player and you’re gonna step over me when you’ve been playing dirty all series and your coach is literally telling you to “hit somebody or you’re not doing your job”, I’m not having that.

Jojo probably should’ve waited for him to step over and gotten up and shoved him, but it’s in the heat of the moment and he kicked out at him. I would’ve probably reacted the same way ,cause I used to play like Embiid.

Doc with a big W here. If we want to encourage targeting superstars, we have Montrell Harrell who can target Bridges and Claxton to draw techs. We have House who can take some techs. Shit, Niang can jaw. So that is 6 free techs a game we can go out every game and try to draw techs on their superstars.

Edit: the Nets don’t have superstars just a couple good players
