Knowing stephs work ethic, I’d imagine he’s heard this comment and worked on getting comfortable with it.

  2. It’s worth a try lmao

Force him into the paint and let him try those floaters over AD

  3. HandsomeJack19

He eliminated this weak spot in his game a long time ago.

Lol. Come on now, Steph shoots with people contesting from all angles.

  5. Players aren’t stagnant. Steph probably fixed this part of his game literally weeks/months later.

Kobe also talked about how KD used to only go left (or maybe right?) early in his career and then he fixed it the next season.

  6. Im not sure but I think Vando and Dennis will take the job of defending Steph

  7. The key to guarding Steph is to keep the game close in the 4th. Then you don’t even really need to guard him, he will just choke.

Now, if you fall behind big against Steph you are basically cooked since he’s the greatest frontrunner in the history of the sport. He will start jacking up 30 footers and making them.

The Kobe myth making is so embarrassing sometimes. He was washed by the time Steph ascended. He doesn’t need people making stuff up, he’s already legendary.

The key here is to bother him especially when he’s moving off ball. Key here is to Reaves, Schroder, and Vando. Destroy his rhythm offball. Same with Klay. If they get to their spot with their motion offense, then it will give them the confidence to shoot.

Need to make him work on defense so he’s gassed

I see a lot of defenders flow with him from the 3 pt line when he makes a move to drive then he stop and hits the step back 3. I think with Steph you have to concede that first step and force him to commit to driving. Defending while trailing, esp with AD in the paint is a way better strategy than letting him roast you from 3. He should be suffocated beyond the arc.

Kobe last played Steph in December 2013 and Steph had 47 points and 9 assists in that game. Combine that with Curry’s evolution over the decade and you’ll see what a useless post this is

we CANNOT be our normal levels of bad from 3. we have to clip at least 33% on top of already great defense to win this one.

  14. YolaDink

Obviously you have to guard him from underneath

  15. ouiallezallez

One of the best ways to shut down Curry is by signing either Dellavedova or The Glove to guard him.

  16. XiaoWhen

Steph has for sure improved since then but I trust Bron who has arguable the highest bbiq to direct vando on how to guard curry considering his experience facing steph

  17. shortyman920

Pretty sure at this point curry shoots and makes anything with confidence once he’s locked in. Doesn’t matter where you stand. That was Curry maybe 7 years ago. That’s also crazy to think about

Go look at 2016 Finals Game 5, 6, and 7, LeBron already figured out how to beat Steph.

    Game 5, Curry shot 8 for 21.

    Game 6, Curry shot 8 for 20.

    Game 7, Curry shot 6 for 19.

    So total of 22 for 60, 37%.

It wasn’t some genius game plan, but a simple one. The Cavs were attacking his defense to wear him out. They don’t let him hide on defense. Whoever he was guarding would come to force a switch and then they would post him up. It doesn’t matter if they don’t score on him or not, they just need him to expend energy so he is worn out on offense. And it worked.

As others have pointed out its not really going to work anymore. The most important thing will be Vando, Dennis and Reaves chasing him around and not giving up too many uncontested looks. Will be tough.

The key to guarding Steph on offense is to go at him defensively to fire him out and draw fouls. Him in foul trouble is the best defense because then he sits. Other than that, you can’t guard him you just pray he misses basically

  21. preptimebatman

I say we just block him every play. Hopefully Ham takes my advice

  22. jgoodysalaker

By now the key to guarding Steph is the same as the key to guarding Kobe, hopes.

  23. Ill_Celery_7654

The only way to defend him is to somehow get him in foul trouble. He can’t shoot if he’s not in the game. But good luck with that. Teams have been trying to find the antidote for years and all it resulted to was him winning 4 titles.
