Lakers must’ve held him back the first time around too…

  2. VoidPineapple

He’s on a team with LeBron and AD as the primary threats, I’d fucking hope he thrives.

    >”I felt like I was held back there, honestly,” Russell said, per [Sam Amick](https://theathletic.com/4495624/2023/05/07/dangelo-russell-interview-timberwolves-lakers-free-agency/?source=twitterhq) of The Athletic. “I just kind of had to be the third option.

He felt like a 3rd option with KAT hurt the majority of the season but doesn’t feel like a 3rd option playing behind AD and LeBron and getting benched against us in the play-in game? Lol what a bunch of bullshit. So glad we aren’t going to have to pay this guy $30 million a year going forward.

Will the bootlicking continue when Lakers low-ball a return contract…or offer nothing at all?

  5. Chubbyklove_

2nd highest usage in his career, 4th highest with ant playing, rosas thought he was his harden.

sadly the narrative won’t be this

  6. KickerofTale

Oh I do love me some good ole bullshit double talk.

Dlo has a way of saying things in not the best way, we know that from his time here and his social media presence. Instead of saying he was held back here, he could just say that he thinks the fit is better in L.A., which I think is a legit statement. Also, he’s going to try to gas himself up as much as possible and downplay his faults going into contract negotiations.

  8. Confident_Self_6462

With all disrespect, you held us back.

  9. no_milk_no_sugar

Complete bs but pandering to current team and fan base while shitting on the old one is nothing new.

  10. This man shot us out of so many games, and didn’t have a lick of defense. And has the gall to say this? Sheesh

  11. smisakso

I wish him nothing but the best, but DLO can win you games with his hot shooting just as much as he can lose them with dumb plays.

  12. itsallgood013

He was literally throwing up bricks a game after AD dominated the Warriors and lost them the game by 30. Dude is so far up his own ass.

  13. greenslam

How about he gets reward with a shot attempt every time he makes a hustle play like a box out or a 50/50 successful grab. Or makes an aggressive close out on a shooter.

He had 2 years of chances, I’d much rather have Ant over the legendary D blow by.

  14. PlayInChampions

Enjoyed watching Dlo yesterday but he is the same Dlo he was here, [I even called it during halftime yesterday and got downvoted by LA fans.](https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/13a9an0/espnstatsinfo_dangelo_russell_tied_the_lakers/jj5u63f/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1&context=3) His FGA is exactly the same with the Wolves and Lakers this season, I don’t know what he is talking about.

D’Angelo fits in LA like a glove but I’m glad we got Conley and NAW. First, signing Russell on long-term contract would have destroyed the payroll in 2024-25 when Ant and Jaden get their new deals. Second, even though Conley unlikely scores three 3s in clutch in a row, he will also unlikely commit stupid turnovers and sleep on defense.

  15. Zenith_24tee

DLO hate here is justified I guess? Idk, and he definitely is allowed to feel the same way back but…

You have to remember there were some games this season he carried, without him TWolves likely aren’t even in the playoffs. And he has to remember TWolves put him where he’s at. He’s playing besides the arguable GOAT and a top 10 player. If he’s dealt anywhere else he’s probably in Cancun with the Wolves instead of a potential WCF debut. His game fits alongside AD and Bron more than it did with anyone on the Wolves or in the league for that matter. No lose situation for him

  16. carlsonaj

*has one decent playoff game out of 9 this year*

  17. tie_myshoe

But he still struggles in LA imo. Same inconsistency then shines in the games everyone else players bad in. Apology form next day

  18. SlowCrates

Sure buddy, I doubt you’ll have a terrible game that screws over the team, and I doubt you’ll take some facepalming bad shots at the worst times that will cause LeBron to chew you out on national TV.

  19. Aljo_Is_135_GOAT

DLo, you just aren’t that good bro

  20. ShakesbeerMe

Completely agree. He’s the Second Coming.

Max him, Lakers. Totally won’t backfire at all. This small sample size will absolutely be consistent, night in, night out.

  21. Breatnach

Glad to see him on another team. I hate having to root for players I dislike just because we sign them.

  22. darin617

He would be saying that with whatever team he was on in hopes of getting a fat contract (which he doesn’t deserve)

Dlo had all the time in MN to show his worth and earn another contract. LA will lowball no matter what.
