One tiny tiny detail folks are missing. Maxey brought the ball up court a lot more this game. So when he passed the ball to Harden, he was already in the front court.

I hope people recognized the big adjustment that the Sixers, especially Embiid, made to make this work.
A lot of people pointed to [this play last game](https://streamable.com/llb5cg) as Harden making a bad play, but I pointed out that [Embiid being in the wrong place gave Harden no good options](https://www.reddit.com/r/sixers/comments/13989h6/i_dont_even_know_how_this_is_possible/jj3bcn1/). Now look at the first play [here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B5V9rhfeOtg). Notice something different? Embiid is rolling *ahead* of Harden, so when the D collapses on him, it’s an easy dumpoff to Embiid and the two smaller defenders aren’t going to stop Embiid. It may seem like a little thing, but the difference between Embiid being one step ahead on the roll and one step behind on the roll is the difference between an easy two points and a very difficult play.
You’ll also notice that Harden had a whole set of highlights with Reed in the game even though Reed barely played because Reed is so much better at rolling hard and Niang is much more direct on the pop action. With Embiid in, instead of playing the PnR game, they just go switch hunting until Harden gets the matchup he wants and then it’s ISO time. That’s a *much* harder game, and that’s going to result in the type of inconsistency we’ve now seen since Embiid’s come back. However, they at least got Embiid out of the arc on most of those so that if Harden chose to go into the paint, he didn’t need to beat Embiid’s man too.
I know Doc takes a lot of shit, but these are the types of adjustments that are the difference between winning and losing.
