Celtics trailing by 3 or less, in final 30 seconds of 4th Q or OT, of regular season games (per PBP stats) …

    Coming out of timeout:

    17 POSS
    23 PTS
    5-9 FG
    4-9 3PT
    1 turnover

    Plays not following timeouts:

    11 POSS
    8 PTS
    2-6 FG
    0-2 3PT
    4 turnovers

Remember, we have an analytics guy as a HC and yet he refuses to think these numbers mean anything.

    No me, it’s shot quality

Like the game against Miami at home that we lost… We called a timeout, but couldn’t get a good look and JB ended up hitting a miracle three

Yesterday, no timeout, we get a perfect look for Smart for the win, but he misses

The possessions we are looking for are when we have still have timeouts but choose to play it out instead. So, the no timeout possessions in this data shouldn’t include possessions where have no timeouts left.

Is less than 30 possessions total really indicative of much? Especially with 0 context surrounding who the opponents are?

That’s not a good application of statistics. It ignores too many important variables. If you consider all the variables, the sample size will be tiny.

  7. Anyone who wants to call me a Doomer, go for it. I have just as much hope and desire as anyone here. I just don’t trust Joe Mazz to do what’s right in certain situations. This is evident. This was the wrong fucking year to hire an NBA Baby (relative to…) in retrospect.

Everyone is living on Tatum game winner against the nets last year.
