The Toronto Raptors head coaching search is in full swing and the latest candidate has just entered the mix in Mike Budenholzer. The Milwaukee Bucks have fired their head coach after 5 seasons in charge of the team despite winning an NBA championship in 2021, just two years ago. This decision comes as a result of the Bucks losing in five games to the 8th-seed Miami Heat in the first round of the playoffs. Mike Budenholzer is a coach of the year and NBA champion as a head coach and also spent the better part of two decades working under Gregg Popovic at the San Antonio Spurs as an assistant. With the Raptors having just fired Nick Nurse, is Bud the best candidate to fill the coaching vacancy in Toronto?

What has Bud accomplished without Giannis ? Those Atlanta teams were garbage in the playoffs.
I think that other coaches deserves to get the coaching job in Milwaukee. The 19 Raptors was a great team a lot of coaches don't get blessed with that opportunity, and you have 2 of the best basketball player injured for you opponent.
Thats enough of the free loading if Nurse is such a good coach he will succeed anywhere.

There's a reason why Budenholzer wasn't hired in 2018 when he was on the Raptors' radar for the head coaching position, if he is hired now, it will reflect the Raptors have no direction for this franchise and are just pandering to people to stay relevant!

I don’t see the raptors hiring bud. Not especially if they have any intention of pulling Giannis after he took a shot at Bud on his way out. Also bud has never beaten the Raptors in the playoffs., and sll those Atlanta teams he coach weren’t good in the players. This guy had Giannis and still couldn’t get out of the first round this season and we expect him to take a less talented Pascal and do more ? This guy is more stubborn than Casey and Nurse.

Head coaches also have Assistants behind them. Are the assistants recommending any adjustments? Surely they must which also has me concerned that he may not be open to what those around him are saying. Just an assumption though. I think he is a great coach but he is not my top coach for the Raps.

We need to reset the team culture. We need to get back to winning. Bud is a winning coach with several fifty win seasons. We are arguing about playoffs while we barely made the playoffs in two of the last four sessons. We are not winning the championship anytime soon. We need someone who can get us back to winning games and then we can hire the coach that can get us the playoff glory. Bud is the fastest way to that. As for mutombo and stackhouse we may as well trade all the vets and start fresh with Scottie as the guy. Ty lue is good but do you really believe first that he will be available and second that he will come to Toronto if he is available. Bud gets this teams confidence which has been shaken the last three seasons. He is the best candidate to do that.

The funny thing is that every potential coach we will look at will probably just makes us wonder why we let Nick go in the first place. Like coach Bud….the guy we beat after going down 0-2 and then sweeping the next 4 games? And he's probably one of the best names on the list 😂
