The Charlotte Hornets hold the second overall pick in the 2023 NBA draft. And while they missed out on the chance to draft one of the best prospects basketball has ever seen. They still have a chance to draft a game changing prospect. The debate seems to be centered around two names at the second overall pick. Alabama wing Brandon Miller, a tall wing with elite perimeter shooting upside, point of attack defense, and secondary passing potential. And G League Ignite guard Scoot Henderson, a primary playmaker, with elite athleticism, feel for the game beyond his years, and elite skills as a creator for himself in others. Both are really good prospects that are ranked highly in this draft for good reason. But to me this isn’t even close to a debate. The Hornets should take Scoot Henderson. Scoot is younger by over a year, he has more solidified traits as a creator off the dribble, he has more upside as an athlete and playmaker, his feel for the game is beyond his years, and overall is just better right now while also having a higher ceiling. That’s no disrespect to Brandon Miller. He’s a great prospect in his own right that’s worthy of going top 3. It just speaks to how special of a prospect Scoot Henderson is in my opinion. He’s one of the four best prospects I’ve evaluated since 2016. With Luka, Wemby, and Zion being the only ones I have ahead of him. This is a prospect that has a chance to be franchise altering player And the Hornets can’t afford to pass up on that. They need to change the franchise. They can’t mess this up…

Melo publicly said he wants the ball in his hand’s majority of the time and that won’t happen if they draft Scoot. Miller is 3point specialist with a handle that can play defense which is what Charlotte need. The combination of drafting Miller and getting Bridges back will make this team a lot better
Scoot all the way. If wemby wasn't there he'd be 1. Plus if not for rule changes of the past. He would have been a 17 year old HS to pro player, since he graduated early to go pro 2years ago. Think he couldn't have went 1-5 in the 2021 draft. He's really good.

With the bouknight incident, and the miles bridges situation, this team needs a high character leader. Miller would be a terrible addition to our locker room based on his track record in college while scoot is being mentored by steph curry. While I do think miller is a better fit basketball wise, I would go scoot for the culture he brings with him.

If you have the 10th pick, you make the pick based on need. If you have the number 2 pick, you take best player available, and that's Scoot without question. Add in MIller's off the court trouble, and that's not really a road the Hornets want to go down again (at least they shouldn't want to)
Why do people keep saying the Hornets won’t be good? The Season before with 0 rim defense the team was a play-in team. After all star break adding Mark Williams to the starting lineup the Hornets became a top 5 defense. They’ll DEFINITELY be good adding Miles and potentially Scoot into the fold
All this jive talk about “the right fit” is ridiculous for a team that hasn’t even won a playoff series in 21 seasons as a franchise. Take the top talent; take Scoot
