JJ dropping the facts.
The nba is horrible at marketing the teams, they only market the lakers and a select group of stars (Lebron, Durant, Luka, Tatum, Booker, etc.). They have no interest in trying to market teams as a whole and that’s why it’s so shit. The nfl glazed Mahomes but also markets every teams and not only the stars, but young up and comers and good starters as well. The NFL posted a ton about the bears and Texans last year, the nba probably posted us like twice and probably didn’t even post the pistons or rockets at all
It’s kinda the same as Timmy though, spurs didn’t always get coverage when we were the best. Ja Morant is more entertaining to a broader audience even if Jokic is the best player in the league.
Some players are always going to be more marketable than others

That’s why I can’t hate the Nuggets and am actually rooting for them. They have a lot in common with what the Spurs were in the 2000’s which was a great team that got no respect because they were “small market”
Obviously Denver is a bigger TV market than San Antonio but it’s not one of the top ten so it might as well be a small market in the eyes of the people who market the NBA
The good news is that with Wemby coming here, we’re about to get a lot more exposure again, even though there will still be people that mock SA as a small market team despite the pedigree.

Casual fans maybe but if you are an avid fan you already know. Jokic can drop into the best all-time with one chip. The only knock on him would be season honors especially all-defense. He gets a couple of those and hes third tier all-timer imo. I’d be hard pressed to put him over players that busted ass on defense
