He does seem to be a bit of a Cronin hater, but honestly I’m not sure this isn’t the wrong idea. The truth is we have traded away a lot of talent and depth since he has become the new GM, and now that Dame has laid down a hard ultimatum, Cronin has to somehow not only fill out our bench depth that was traded away, he also has to swing a trade for a legit second star. probably someone who is more talented than any option dame has had in his career so far. It doesn’t seem like that is realistically going to happen. I would love for dame to stay and for it all to work out, but it makes me really nervous thinking about what we could realistically get by mortgaging the future this off season

Just more fuel for Dame and the Crocess

Winning every single trade you make is hard. Getting younger without blowing it up is hard.

Pick #3 in a 3 player draft.
23rd pick or all of our future firsts
Anfernee simons. Young budding star.
Shaedon Sharpe.
3+ second rounders
A full Non-TaxMLE worth 12 million (think of the value Bruce brown has brought Denver, he makes half that).
A nice hefty 9ish million TPE. All of our core players are under contract/signing long term deals.
Quick is wrong. If you cannot build a competent team around Damian Lillard & Jerami grant who basically give you 50 efficient points each a night alone, with THAT level of assets, you are simply not qualified for your job. Teams do it every year with less and around worse players than Damian lillard.

I love Jason Quick, I think he has a great mind. Smart writer. Good at finding unique threads and stories. Just top notch stuff. And he seems like a good guy.
Unfortunately, he doesn’t seem to be finding joy in this team lately. He is at his best when he writes about things that excite and inspire him. I understand things are potentially bleak right now, but a lot of us would prefer to dream big and find ways to be excited. That’s what sports are about!

Dame going out and putting an ultimatum to Cronin made Cronin lost leverage in trades. Teams know Cronin has to get Dame a co-star or risk losing Dame in a trade. Mediocre teams can ask Cronin to overpay for a star and contending teams that needs to improve will deny him to get a star so that Dame becomes available via trade.
Cronin needs to regain his footing and leverage. I think Dame should put out there that he trusts the org and will support their decision with the pick. Cronin can then change his stance from trading the pick to doing what’s best for the team – by trading the pick to highest bidder or just keeping the player they drafted.
Trading for Siakam is unlikely. Masai wants an overpay and seeing an 8th seed make the ECF will just skew his perception of how “open” the East Conference is.
For JBrown, I think the Cs gives them another shot next year before retooling around Tatum. They’re 7 wins away from winning it all despite what happened with Ime. Losing their former assistant coach to the Jazz as a head coach didn’t help either. It’s best for them to upgrade the roster around the edges while providing Mazzulla with more experienced assistant coaches.
For Sixers/Embiid, even if Morey decided to blew it up (which I doubt), they will sell high on Embiid especially after seeing him win the MVP award. As great as he is, he’s not one of those players that you would want to overpay especially with the injury concerns.
Lastly, Mikal Bridges. I believe he’s the most realistic target this offseason. I don’t buy the Nets wanting to keep him and I think it’s just a smokescreen. He can be had for the right prize. They’re a lotto team with or without Mikal so it’s better for them to rebuild around younger group of guys. We need to hype up the both Scoot and BMill and have the Nets fear from potentially losing out on great cornerstones to build around. A hypothetical deal of Mikal/Claxton for #3/Simons is a huge win for the team.

Hes a melodramatic loser and a complete energy vampire. He barely even wrote any articles last season. He was also an Olshey guy towards the end of his tenure, remember him bragging about being on the phone with him constantly. So he probably resents not having any access anymore. Also alienated both Dame and CJ. You gotta be a real asshole to get on their nerves.

I mean he ain’t wrong, I think the heated discourse on this sub about our next move is indicative of what a bind the team is in right now

How does this mean he hates the Blazers lol

Ever since his depression bout he took a break for he’s been on a mission to hate on the team. I think he’s going thru it in his personal life

He became an Olshey dude, he’s probably just bitter he doesn’t get fed stuff from the GM anymore
