I don’t think the Pistons do this but Id be for it

  2. bit_pusher

Do we think Cam Whitmore or Taylor Hendricks is guaranteed to develop into a more impactful player than who Keldon is now?

  3. chudney31

No one is going to help the Spurs get better at this point. The league did a collective “WTF” when they pulled the pick.

  4. callmearookie

the reaosns for detroit make sense

for us it’s just pure fluff nonsense.

  5. No lol, if we didn’t trade Keldon and 9 for Ivey why would we trade Keldon and a Future 1st for a pick in a class with worse prospects projected at 5???

I get some of y’all don’t like Keldon here but gah damn 😂😂

Edit: The one thing I’m going to keep screaming in this sub Reddit is asset management. Look at recent trades involving draft picks. You’re not seeing trades of young established players ALONG WITH picks being moved. You’re seeing salary dumps, rotational vets, protected picks being moved, and lower picks being moved in bundles to go up. Moving Keldon AND another asset for a pick in a draft range in which you’re hoping that player turns into a Keldon level player is nonsensical.

I’d like to trade keldon personally because I think his value is probably at its ceiling. That being said, Id like to wait and try and get cayson wallace and maybe something else for keldon or just use a few picks to go back up. Depends on how far he falls and how receptive trade partners are though.

I’m good either way. If we keep Keldon, I do believe he has an opportunity to grow. If he can become a good defender and maintain a good 3pt percentage, then he should be our starting 3 for as long as he wants to be here.

On the other hand, if we can draft Amen Thompson, then we could get an elite future star at our pg. At 6’7″ he would have a huge advantage over most of the league at his position. If he develops a jumper, he could become our 1b to our 1a Victor. Fortune favors the bold and this could be one of those moves.

I DO NOT WANT TO TRADE KELDON

I wish everyone would leave him alone. It’s going to be Vassell next, that everyone wants to trade.

    Thank god for PATFO

I think this is a fair trade, but would hate to see Keldon go…

we probably shouldnt gamble away all our assets.

The minute the Pistons pull this trade, the GM would be fired and never work an NBA job again. I’m sorry, I love KJ, but he is not equal to a Number 5 pick. He’s a great 2nd or 3rd option at best.

  12. Amazing-Dog323

I’d do it. Especially if they think someone has a higher ceiling. I know we all love keldon but this is likely his maxed ability

If the Spurs truly believe in the upside of whom they think is available at 5 (a twin, Cam, Jarace, whatever) it makes sense from a basketball standpoint.

From an emotional/fan perspective: *oh fuck no*

The Spurs place a huge emphasis on culture and community. Keldon is a guy who the Spurs drafted and developed into a 20ppg scorer and emotional sparkplug for the team. The core group of players here are tight and Keldon is a perfectly serviceable 3rd option type player on an *incredible* contract.

Dude has even become an avid hunter living around here. I really want to keep him and because I am a fan, I am not obligated to make the “best basketball decision.”

But yeah, if the Spurs think they can fix his shot to at least a few points within league average and he falls to 5…Amen could be a steal and you probably do that deal. That said, with Cade/Ivey/Duren, I don’t see why Detroit doesn’t just take Jarace and develop him – he projects as a “better” and more functional player than Keldon and as the worst team in the league, they aren’t looking for “proven” players, they have to build.

If we’re going to trade Keldon, I’d rather trade him in a package for a star player in 2 years rather than for whoever we can pick with the #5 pick in this year’s draft. It’s not like his value or the value of his contract will diminish in 2 years. In fact, those values will only become higher.
