Despite all our thoughts about him, and I think it’s time for newer faces to be coaching, he does the raise the floor of a team to at least playoff level. The ceiling is not too much higher than the floor though, especially if you remove the Celtics ring.

We used to have a coach in a div 1 team in Sweden, he was a large, black, soft spoken, American, so everyone thought he was the shit. He said he played with MJ in college and coached, and I quote, “Jason Kidd and those guys”.
The team he coached was really good, but it became clear very fast that he was all talk. Nothing he said made sense, but you wanted to listen and believe him still, because of his charisma/authority.
I believe there’s something similar going on with Doc Rivers.
