  1. Championship coach going to a title contender? Seems like a no brainer

  2. MasterTeacher123

My respect for KG grows more each day with each Doc playoff failure. He hasn’t coached a conference final game without KG in the starting lineup. This despite having HOF’s like Tmac, Pierce, Allen, Kawhi, PG, CP3, Embiid, Harden etc

  3. freakingspacedude

How is this man still such a hot commodity? He’s had loaded teams and under delivers every damn time. I know it’s not just on him, but cmon man.

  4. Cahillicus

Honestly Doc wasn’t really at fault for the Sixers collapse this year, him getting yet another job after flaming out due to repeated playoff underperformance *again* would be hilarious

  5. How does this dude keep getting work? Would love to see how long he lasts with KD on the team though.

  6. Curious_Success_377

Doc Rivers needs to be phased out. Bring in a new face.

  7. BatmanHive

I hope he continues getting jobs, I just wanna see how far he can go

  8. RedditRovers

Despite all our thoughts about him, and I think it’s time for newer faces to be coaching, he does the raise the floor of a team to at least playoff level. The ceiling is not too much higher than the floor though, especially if you remove the Celtics ring.

Na, he’s coming home to boston, 2nd Dynasty!

What a guy. A true master of finesse

  11. AkshanIsComing

He got one more in him. Suns really trying to lose a 3-1 series lead to Luka or Joker next year.

  12. This would ensure a continuing string of 2nd round losses. Why fire Monty Williams if that’s what you’re looking for?

  13. We used to have a coach in a div 1 team in Sweden, he was a large, black, soft spoken, American, so everyone thought he was the shit. He said he played with MJ in college and coached, and I quote, “Jason Kidd and those guys”.

The team he coached was really good, but it became clear very fast that he was all talk. Nothing he said made sense, but you wanted to listen and believe him still, because of his charisma/authority.

I believe there’s something similar going on with Doc Rivers.

How does this motherfucker keep getting jobs?

  15. AthKaElGal

Stacked teams and Doc always under performing, name a more iconic duo.

Doc would be good for a bottom dwelling franchise. He’s always been a role player whisperer. He just can’t hack it coaching star-laden teams.

  16. Tundraaa

For some reason this sub treats “X is set to interview for Y head coaching job” as “X is set to be hired by Y for 6 years, plus also given position of POBO”.

  17. RebelYell49

Who in his right mind would hire the biggest loser of a coach the league has ever seen?

  18. SlapThatAce

I don’t get their logic, they just fired a really good coach only to replace him with…… Doc? The heck???

  19. BoujeeAdam

Doc must be very damn charismatic & charming… dudes a salesman because he keeps ending up with stacked teams

  20. BushPlotted911

I think he’d be a great fit. The Suns already have a pretty strong and established choking culture, I think Doc could really put them over the edge and help them fully realize their potential for failure.

  21. HolyTythinEar

How any competent FO sees his teams blow series leads consistently and still want to hire this man is mind blowing.

  22. MeddlingMike

It’s crazy to me that he’s been continuously employed as a head coach since 1999. He managed to win 1 chip when he had KG, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce coming off their primes. Just seems very overrated, still, thanks for 08 Doc.

  23. lVloogie

Suns choking again with Doc Rivers is just too good.

  24. Fa1lenSpace

Doc is just a brilliant salesman at this point. That and likeable. This life is all about playing politics and selling yourself, Doc is a prime example of that with the jobs he keeps getting.

  25. metalfingers57

If Doc doesn’t have a second round exit does that NBA fall into chaos or some shit? What the fuck

  26. KayRay1994

honestly if Doc lands this job i’ll respect the shit out of him cause the man is somehow failing his way from contender to contender

  27. Walrus--

I don’t like this Suns team so this is great news for me

  28. Butterfly_Scape

the suns have the chance to do the funniest thing ever
