He is white. And. Best player in a black man league
If jokic played for La or NY he would be already the face of the nba. He is a foreigner so not attractive enough for the nba commerce.
Itll change once denver wins back to back to back which i think they will be the next dynasty!!! The media will have no choice at that point.
They KEEP trying to write off Steph for what reason Idk??
He only said his leaving cause he didn’t want people to discuss how he got sweeped
🤡💪🏆 Joker dont care for media, intenet, ego….sorry guys💪
Agent 0 is so off and wrong in this segment…he must really hate seeing Denver succeeding
Here are the two of the so-called analysts idiots
When Manning came to the Broncos, the league flexed the maximum number of their games to Prime Time or at least national coverage. Would the NBA do the same with their "small market" teams?
Thank god the world does not end at the usa borders. This proves how shallow mind these people are.
He's so wrong about Joker
This guys a racist
If you consider yourself a casual basketball fan, Arenas thinks you aren’t smart enough to think Jokic is exciting to watch. I haven’t watched basketball more than I have this post season and that is because of Jokic.
Its fine, we dont need you to care Gilbert, and others alike.
I do see interest dropping nationally BUT international attention is a different story .
How about sell good basketball? This thinking is why 99% percent of offenses are iso plays.
This is like when TORONTO won no-one cared. 😆 Its sad to say but it's true. Super stars with old man efficient games don't necessarily sell tickets. No one ever references the spurs unless we're talking about great run franchises.
LA and Boston have been so dominant for so long that they naturally accrued a large fan base. Let these small market teams cook and build a legacy then you'll have multiple powerhouses that have a high market value.
The American brand of basketball is dribble dribble dribble…dribble dribble dribble…dribble dribble dribble, drive with 5 seconds left on the shot clock, Chuck up a terrible shot and try to draw contact. And commentators glorify that. THAT’S what has ruined the game. Isolation is fine he last possession of a quarter, last minute of a game. It’s boring for 48 minutes.
As JJ said they have to change how they cover the NBA. Play up ball movement. Glamorize that pinpoint pass and extra pass. Say it’s boring watching one player dribble the shot clock down. That’s how you change the culture.
I love Gil but that boy is not no analyst 😂
its not about good baskletball, its about cirkus…..youshoulsputmJokic more couse he can learn kids something, not guns and …
There's something disheartening when I hear conversations like this about the NBA. The thought of the NBA making crafty maneuvers to ensure superstars find their way to larger market teams makes me want to quit watching… They ought to take a moment, slow down and remember that the smaller market teams are essential to the league's success. This whole discussion just reinforces what we've always suspected deep down: the system is rigged. We're living in a time where there are so many options for entertainment, and even the almighty NFL is facing some tough challenges that could erode its fanbase (i.e., concussions). The point is, nothing lasts forever and nothing's guaranteed. I'm a native of Colorado and have waited 40+ years to see our team in the finals. We finally have a team that has a good chance to win it all. This team seems different based on its, leader, unselfish style of play, and what appears to be genuine friendships among its players. There's a lack of drama or players getting into trouble. They play hard with amazing skills and teamwork. All these characteristics seem like things you'd want to teach your own children, yet we are mired in the self-perpetuating bull-shit the media continues to spew out. The NBA ought to focus on making wise decisions and remember that their fans and customers are spread out across all 50 states and from all around the world in places like "Serbia".
I get the small market point. But he wouldn't get picked last in ASG if he not white 😂!
I watched one of the games with my grandfather the other night. He hasn’t watched a game since the 90’s. And he was laughing saying things are too easy for jokic and how no body could stop him and he marveled at jokic’s touch and then hits crazy 3’s. My grandfather was loving his game. I don’t think the issue is casuals can’t appreciate jokic’s game. You don’t need to be a student of the game to recognize Jokic has crazy talent.
Green Bay and Pittsburgh have national recognition and consistently draw big audiences. That's because they have a history and a culture that the NFL markets. The fanbase for the Steelers and Packers I guarantee you are larger than the Lakers. The NBA chose not to do this. Cleveland was on every national TV game each week when LeBron played and the NBA had no issues with ratings.
The whole notion that you need a large market is stupid, especially in today's social media age where the world gets progressively smaller.
Under all this conversation I hear from these guys, it is fair to assume that this is the reason the USA basketball team sucks and fails in international tournaments because Americans don’t like strong well founded basketball teams, rather flashy stars with tv ratings and shoes deals.. so don’t complain in the Olympics..
Why can't the game be marketed beyond the stars? Ex: football. This pod is trying, but still a symptom of the problem. Smh, if you can't market beautiful basketball.
Jokic is only 28 and has improved every year. However, I don't think he wants to play another 10 years.
Arenas is such a Jokić hater it makes me sick
Gillie is just a hater. Jokic is the man! Sure Denver doesn’t get the respect they should be getting but the team continues to get better and if they continue to play at this level don’t be surprised to see Denver win a few chips over the next 5 years.
The game it will turn more and more towards international markets in next 5-10 years.
The problem is that other teams except lakers, knicks, warriors and Celtics it’s very hard to see any other teams promoted 😢
So, Gilbert, what is dominant if not the triple double regular season, followed by even better triple double playoffs?
We will just take our chip home no worries small market gonna win it all
And this is why the NBA is going to struggle because if you only market major cities then you paint yourself into a marketing corner. The NBA now has to market every single team.
Only guy that's not marketable is the guy getting suspended for guns just like his number he's a zero as a nba player never considered a superstar or hof which Joker is both already in 8 year's.
Yup, this is the reason the referees do what they do. It's all about the glimmer.
Jokic is 28 in his prime.
This guy has never watched the nuggets. This guy kinda makes me sick. Kinda looks like a guy who needs to do some research
That's the problem with the NBA! They don't promote other Teams!
Gilbert knows nothing….jj also…disgusting to watch…promote good basketball….you are both worried about the wrong things…
Gilbert picked the lakers in 5 "maybe 6"
Man fuck the NBA if the motive is "screw everyone except California, NY, Boston, Chicago or Philly" JJ is a troll too how tf you go from "Lakers in 4" to the "The Nuggets are a great team" without admitting any wrong? NOT TO MENTION
This is the most fucked up thing I've heard talked about this sport EVER. Disassembling other "small market teams" so that the NBA can kiss bigger city ass for market ratings isn't okay or fair like whats the damn point of being a fan if you don't root for a high market team if the NBA the media and including the players expect it to keep the "business" in tact it sounds more like a front for a scam if the other teams have no shot because it's expected "large market teams" get their way because somehow business is better if the Mid to Small market teams lose 100% of the time but are okay to have around as long as they have just enough talent to sell merch and tickets and keep local interests alive. I'll stop watching the NBA all together if it goes back to pulling the league apart to apease Lebron James or whoever they decide to replace him with.
