> “Personally, I wouldn’t (pursue Harden),” George told Green. “At this point, that’s your [team]. Like, you’re the King of Houston. They made their decision…on who the future is…When you pick a guy with the fourth pick, he’s our guy. They full-on committed to who the future is. Like you got to go through this. You got to go through being double-teamed, triple-teamed, being a target every time. You gotta go through that.”
> “You bring on someone like James who’s such a ball-dominant player like that’s gonna hinder your growth a little bit. You know what I mean? Regardless of how it can elevate you on another level of him teaching you and you learning off of him, I feel like for you, you’ve already been through the fire. So, let you continue to learn.”
I’d argue that Jeremy Peña or José Altuve is the King of Houston, but hey. Will the Rockets ever be relevant again like the good old days of 2019?

Sengun erasure.
The most obvious leverage play of all time
How do Houston fans actually feel about Green being their #1 piece to build around right now? He strikes me as more of a #2 even if he reaches his potential
I don’t think PG is 100% correct but it’s a pretty good take. Green needs touches to develop, not to learn how to fit around Harden.
Does the King of Houston have any claims to rule Galveston as well?
King of Trash is still a King everyone
Green needs some to cool him on offense rather than seeing red and just giving himself the greenlight whenever the ball touches his fingers. So yeah Harden for playmaking I guess lol
stick to your business PG13
I feel like Yordan Alvarez is currently the King of Houston.
Sengun is the man in Houston, not Jalen or Jabari
I feel like I’m watching crazy pills when I hear about Jalen Green being some super star, yeah I get he could refine into something very nice.
Edit: I was very hyped about Jalen Green this season and have watched him a lot, just didn’t view the growth the way others clearly do. Happy to discuss with Rockets fans but not getting into shouting matches on Reddit over Jalen Green in Late May.
Yordan is the king of Houston
man whoever is cutting these excerpts for their youtube channel is doing a great job in terms of promo, we get so many posts for every episode haha
Man..
Put some respect on Booker T’s name for King Of Houston..
I can pretty much guarantee you Jalen Green will never be the first or second best player on a championship caliber team
Rockets fan fighting for their lives out here 😭😭
Jeremy pena? Not Yordan Alvarez, or “King” Tuck
I feel like “king of Houston” is the wrong message to send to a player on a team that struggles to play effective team basketball.
Harden knows his role. Embiid got two scoring title with him. He will set up Jalen Green for easy shots and he will learn from Harden who is one of the best iso scorers in NBA.
PG13 is hoping that the Clippers could get James Harden this off season … it can’t be Jalen Green’ s team already he hasn’t done anything or played to that standard to receive that recognition
Paul George is good at podcasts. I watched his interview with Demar and it was solid. 👌
Well there goes the leverage
I’m terrorizing this sub when Jalen goes off this season
Never knew there were so many rockets fans here lol. Glad to see them all sticking up for Green and PGs take. PG is mostly just being nice and trying to give the young guy confidence but you never know. Look at Fox and what he’s become with the Kings.
Let’s give Green a couple more years to develop.
Well PG is half wrong here. Jalen Green is now the King of Houston Rockets, but if you ask the strippers, James Harden remains the undisputed King of Houston.
Wasn’t Green the 2nd pick?
Idc what the public perception currently is. Jalen Green is going to be a star. It’s hard to be efficient and stay consistent in a scenario like he’s been in since being drafted. People have a hard time understanding that, even Rocket fans.
What’s important is that he’s had stretch’s/shown flashes of being a star talent. Udoka sees that and it’s a big reason he signed on. It’s a big reason why vet FA will sign to play there despite them being a 20 win team over the last 3 years (& money of course). He’s on a similar trajectory stat wise as current & past great SGs in league history.
It’s fun to hate on his archetype of player but improvements were made year-over-year and he’s only getting better. I’m excited to see him and this team defy expectations in a big way next year.
Plot twist: PG has been on Reddit for years and is [tracking a downward trend in strip club ratings in Houston](https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/dt0ucg/i_analyzed_james_hardens_performance_in_every_nba/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=2&utm_term=1) and doesn’t want to help a western conference opponent.
