Should the Spurs trade up in the Draft? | SSPN Offseason
Jude and Ethan are back to discuss the pros and cons of the Spurs trading up in the 2023 NBA Draft. Tell us your thoughts on trading up in the comments below!
If I’m spurs I wait until 2025 and see how the Atlanta hawks looking and how those picks looking then make a move cause there’s a chance those picks can be very high
Totally agree, there is no way even with breaking our team that gets us another pick in the top 5. 6-10 is a maybe, though the hit would be substantial as everyone knows the Spurs need to ensure they don't squander the early Wemby years to keep him at the end of the Contract.
I think we should stick with getting gems later in the draft, and grabbing some low end mid-career players like Tyus, DiVincenzo, or a bigger swing for Reaves if he is available.
I would also try to target Poeltl or Yurtseven and re-sign Mamu to give some bangers to take the damage, and in Mamu a solid rebounded and perimeter big to continue the three point threat when Wemby is eased in to the league.
Yes! The spurs should move back into the lottery and get Cason Wallace. He adds defense, 3pts shooting which will help spread the floor and has play making upside. Well rounded player that doesn't have to many flaws to his game. Spurs have interviewed him also. Spurs have a lot of draft picks, a player or 2 that can be traded while staying young, and building the team.
Honestly. I Think the SAS are aight. Maybe trading Keldon Johnson to cash in on his value for more picks and take bets on medium size prospect outside of the top 10 or late 10's

Yes, yes, yes
I would really love to be able to get Cason Wallace.
I think Jalen hood-schifino is much better than cason Wallace for me
We have 6 picks in the next 3 years
2025 Luka Doncic
Save next years picks, draft Bronny, sign Lebron
Coming from a huge Spurs fan. The most realistic trade that helps both teams in major ways . Magic and the Spurs.
MAGIC Receive:
Keldon Johnson
This year's both 2nd round picks
And 2 future firsts (hopefully not any of the Atlanta Hawks picks)
Spurs receive:
Pick 6 (Cason Wallace) or (Anthony Black)
Pick 11 (Dereck Lively)
With Pick 6 you get your PG , Pick 11 you get your center to pair with WEMBY so he can play the 4 and Lively and WEMBY can grow together.
You can have Devin stay at 2 , Jeremy at 3
Wallace or Black at the 1. With Jones coming off bench and with Wesley going off bench from 1 and 2.
I absolutely love KELDON JOHNSON, But honestly Devin just honestly fits better with WEMBY
If we cant get back into the lottery, then I would think they stay put

To get Dallas' pick we would need to sign and trade Poeltl as they need a defender, and they could do that themselves.
As a Spurs fan I don’t think we should, majority of the teams in the lottery have good young guards, but ego could we trade?
For the cost of moving into the top ten, we could get a proven NBA player. Know what you are going to get rather than hope your scouting is dead on.
