That feels more like the Lakers would be doing us the favor

I’d rather re-sign Gary than sign and trade him.

  3. I doubt Gary ends up in ~~blue~~ purple and gold in a sign and trade.

However, if he isn’t getting free agency interest, him opting in and requesting a trade is interesting.

Beasley + 17 (Coulibaly?) would be intriguing.

Honestly unlikely that the 17th pick becomes a better player than Gary and it would suck to watch him ball out for the Lakers

The 17th pick is going to cost much less than Gary and be under contract for 6-7 more years until hitting free agency.

If our FO like a prospect in that range, this is not a bad trade at all.

Lakers fans will see this and say “no thats too much. give them mo bamba and a second”

Anyone remember when Beasley dropped a fat 30 on us during ’17 summer league?

  8. If Kyrie resigns in Dallas, I wonder if the Lakers would do FVV for Rui. Always been a huge fan of his and knew he’d be alright once he escaped the Wiz, curious what it would take to pluck him.

This is all dependent on if there’s someone around 17 the FO likes. If so, and GTJ agrees to either an opt-in and trade or S&T, this isn’t bad.

I’m not terribly against 17 and Beasley for Gary. We’ve got too many players that are looking to play with the ball in their hands, and GTJ ends up being the odd man out playing a C&S role. I think he’s the easiest player for us to replace.

The 17th pick let’s the FO take a chance on a high upside player (Bilal, Rupert, Leonard Miller) while still going with positional need (Keyonte, Smith Jr, Bufkin) at 13.

Are we really going to be paying GTJ $20+ mil a year to be a bench shooter for us when we’re in a cap crunch?

Is it possible to sign and trade for a draft pick? Doesn’t the draft take place before you can sign a free agent? I’m guessing you can as nobody has mentioned it, I just don’t know, looking for answer from someone who knows better. Don’t recall seeing any sign and trades for a draft pick in the past.

I’d do that in a heart beat. Works for all parties.

Reports indicate Lakers are much more keen on building onto the chemistry they have with Rui and also prioritizing resigning Reeves. And the addition they look for will be one that can carry during the regular season if AD and Lebron miss time, and also guarantee contention, aka Dame or Kyrie or Trae.

Unless it’s a fleece I’m not trying to do the Lakers any favors. I’d honestly like Gary to stay as long as it’s not a massive overpay
