Why TF are we taking so long, we’ve had 6 weeks

  2. Barnicus53

How dare the front office take their time trying to determine who they should spend millions of dollars on to be the steward of this team for the next 3-5 years?

  3. Beneficial-Luck-5078

I think Masai is playing the long game till draft night to not give possible trade partners any leverage on which direction the team is going

  4. Sergio to the Raptors is gonna hit. Wish we could poach Jordi too lol

I got flamed for saying we seem like we have no direction. I get the moving in silence approach when you’re having success and have built trust and faith from the fan base and from the organization top to bottom. Right now….nothing is clear. We aren’t contending or rebuilding. We could potentially lose free agents for nothing (horrible management of contracts and personnel/assets). We fired a championship coach after giving him a misfit roster with no shooting and are going to go into the draft with a down to the wire coach signing that will not have much time to digest the potential direction of the team before we go and back an against the grain pick at #13.

All that to say…..cue the article right after my post:

Raptors to sign Jordi Fernandez to a multi year deal. Sergio Scarriolo expected to join the bench as lead assistant and mentor to Jordi while retaining his Spanish coaching duties.

Before getting too pressed about this remember that there is at least one, if not two candidates (Adelman + Quinn) currently competing in the finals.

To the fans that are overly agitated by this hiring process, the direction of the front office or that Nick personally slighted you in taking too long writing an ode to Toronto. Watch the finals and go outside to enjoy the summer ffs

  7. FuzzyGuarantee2350

I don’t mind this approach. Have an idea of what the team looks like before deciding who to hire.

  8. QueasyDrummer00

Dance puppets! They all have to impress US now! Masai’s such a badass

  9. bmnewman

The FO is waiting on the deadline….oh damn!

  10. lochmoigh1

People like to think ujiri is some genius played 4d chess but honestly I think he’s just a procrastinator

  11. ILikeFPS

This is basically what I expected lol it’s not really surprising tbh

I really don’t understand what the Raptors FO is doing. They were the last team to make a trade before the deadline and are now the last team to find a replacement head coach.

I get the lack of faith in the team right now, I get being critical about the front office in general (I’ve been very critical), but all these comments about the Raptors not choosing a new coach fast enough because of ‘indecisiveness’ or whatever are just downright *bizarre*. There is no rush! Truly! The playoffs are still happening. Masai said they’d pick a new coach before the draft and they are on pace to do that.

Of the coaches that have gotten hired while the front office waits to make their decision, the only one the Raptors were even in play on was Adrian Griffin. He might have potentially been a good choice, so if he was your guy then maybe it makes sense to be antsy about the delay, but otherwise there’s no reason to be.

Y’all think they hire someone before or after the finals?

  15. dr_crackgeek

Smart move! Waiting for Spoelstra or Mike Malone to become available /s

  16. Barnicus53

Masai: We’d like to have a coach in place by the draft.

People in this sub, 20 days before the before the draft: WHAT IS TAKING SO LONG OMG

  17. godofhammers3000

I mean the only candidate that I was interested in was Monty
But he just got paid a massive bag
The slow approach here was the correct move since we’re not really in the proven “veteran” market but need someone who can take risks and be a bit more creative ideally

  18. MumbisChungo

We’re probably going to wait to see if Miami can win it.

If so, quadruple down on this core.

  19. AprilsMostAmazing

It’s me. Raps don’t know how to break the news so they just going let you figure it first preseason game when you wonder who’s coaching

  20. Masai monopolizing the demand for HC while there is still an abundant supply of candidates.

Whoever we hire as HC will come cheap as they have no other HC options in the league atm.

Masai out here playing 5D backgammon.

  22. Ben--Affleck

ayo. i coached a HS team this past year. first time coaching and we got the banner. should I apply?

  23. Thealk3mist

Out of the coaches we can consider, we have:
    – Doc Rivers
    – Bud
    – Pringles (D’antoni)
    – Becky
    – Kenny Atkinson
    – Sergio
    – Jordy
    – other assistants

    Tbh it’s a buyers market
