Do we know when scoot is gonna come in if he hasn’t already?
Leaky Black 100% gonna be signed to the swarm after going undrafted
If he can be a Theo Pinson-type locker room guy, that’d be pretty neat
1. Marcus Sasser
While Sasser is a guy I personally have trouble scouting due to his backcourt mate, he is clearly the best guy in this workout group and clearly in play at #27. He’s a very high level shooter as well as an acceptably good passer and defender (even if those abilities look muted next to Jamal Shead, arguably the best guard in the class at both had he not withdrawn). He’s a bit small for the 2, which is probably his ideal position, but it’s not like we’re unfamiliar with taking advantage of LaMelo’s height at the nominal 1 to run a small 2. I like the fit in a general sense (especially since we really don’t want to take more than one of the five defense only non-shooting wings around this range meaning we need to diversify our choices in fit), and while I don’t know that I’d get too excited about having him as a talent, he certainly wouldn’t be out of place at #27.
2. Hunter Tyson
Tyson’s a guy that I had largely been ignoring for most of the year, so my watch of him is still incomplete. That said, what I have seen is a 6’8″ shooter who can at least hold his own rotationally on defense. He doesn’t really do much else, but what he does is so valuable that I wouldn’t hate taking him with #42, especially in a class like this one.
3. Nate Laszewski
Slowfooted white big. Not really as good a passer as most of those guys, but he is a very good shooter at 6’10”. Also worth noting that in spite of playing most of his career at the 5, it’s hard to imagine him not having to play the 4 in the NBA. Frank could survive at the 5 because he was a true 7′ and also substantially more skilled than basically everyone he faced there. Laszewski is not.
4. Leaky Black
Leaky has been around prospect circles for 5 years now as an “if he shoots” guy. He did make it into the low 30’s, which isn’t really enough, but two-ways mean he can continue selling the hope that he one day shoots well enough to put on an NBA roster. Because ultimately, teams are going to bend over backwards to justify a good athlete who plays mostly good defense and can handle and pass just a tiny bit. He’s not worth a pick, but he’s fine on a 3rd two-way.
5. Osun Osunniyi
Osunniyi was the defensive anchor sort of for a very good defensive team in Iowa St., which might make you think he should be higher, except he played less than half of their minutes. Basically that team was 4 guards and a really good coach, which allowed Osunniyi to play basically exactly his energy driven game. I’m actually not 100% persuaded he’s a better player than his backup, Hason Ward, who is a better overall athlete and defender, even if limited by basketball immaturity. Regardless, Osunniyi is fine. I think he’s the kind of guy smart teams roster for the G League because he allows you to play real schemes, but you’re not giving a two-way for that.
6. Marcus Carr
Small chucking guard on his 6th year in school. Not an NBA player. Not a smart idea to have him around the G League team either, even if he’s good enough to merit it on talent.
Wouldn’t be shocked if leaky ends up in a Caleb Martin type role for a decent team. He can defend well
If Leaky had some semblance of an offensive game he’d probably be drafted. He was probably a top 10 defender in CBB last 2 seasons.
No to Leaky Black
LETS GO LEAKY
Did you say slowfooted white big? 😍
Question for you guys scoot is 6 2 with a 6 9 wingspan marcus is 6 2 with a 6 7 wingspan. The game is heavily geared towards 3 point shooting. I actually like marcus on this team with thr 27th rather than scoot with the 2nd especially with miles and dennis giving what scoot he can putting pressure on the rim
