Why is Aaron Gordon getting so much coverage

  2. beer_down

As an Arizona fan, I needed him to be just a bit better at shooting FTs 🙁

Right player in the right role on the right team. It’s wild how much the Magic got back for Vuc and how little they got back from AG

Obviously I’m biased but to me he’s one of those guys who’s easy to cheer for. I always appreciate guys who accept their role and make a meaningful difference.

We just saw the exact same thing happen with Wiggins last year. Both guys were not suitable as #1 options in Orlando/Minnesota but are everything you could want in a championship role player.

My question is, who’s the next version of this? Could RJ Barrett become that guy?

The real friends are the ones Gordon made on the way

  7. Jake_doe

He was stubborn in Orlando, wanting to be more than what he really was. Den forced him to accept his rightful role and flourish.

they could get Jeremi Grant again or some high flyer like Derick Jones Jr.

AG was robbed at the Slam dunk contest. Irrelevant but had to be said for millionth time!

I was still surprised he got picked 4 after Embiid. It really looked like Julius was headed to Orlando

After losing grant absolutely. Elite level role players get paid a lot for a reason.

Some of these comments about accepting his role are coming off more as digs than praise in a “know your place” type of way

He’s just playing ball doing what he can for the team.

  13. like anything in life, sometimes you just have to try different things (attempting to be THE scoring guy in ORL) before you find your niche (playing solid D and 3rd or 4th scoring option) and succeed.

Happy for the dude. My friend met him a couple times at U of A and said he’s a nice fella

I always thought the Gordon trade was great for the team and Gordon, would’ve loved him next to doncic and porzingis tbh

  16. Grew up near and was in high school around the same time as AG so it’s cool to see him succeeding

  17. YolaDink

Lowkey the role josh smith should’ve had too

I was so happy when he went to Denver, I’ve always liked him as a player and I’ve always liked Denver. Seems like the perfect fit. I can’t imagine a world where Denver loses the championship. I don’t like guaranteeing anything, especially against Miami, but from what I’ve seen, I think they’re clearly the best team.

Fuck being a slam dunk contest champion, I’ma be a NBA champion. -AG probably

As many have mentioned, it’s the classic redemption arc of the right player on the right team. Usually the player is highly-touted but in the wrong organization with the wrong role. Bobby Portis on Bucks is another excellent recent example.

Nuggets dont need him that much though, jokic/Murray win with just about any decent third option. Gordon is playing well but he is very replaceable on this team.
