Why would Phoenix take our protected pic and some seconds when they can just have the 10 straight up. Unless we’re also sending them a role player or two like Collins/ McDermott I’m not sure why they would do this.
With that said, if I can get the 10 pick I know it takes is a top six pick in a much weaker draft class and some seconds. I’m doing that in a heartbeat. I think it would cost more though

Well it’s definitely a “fans delusional trade” if nothing else. If we want the 10th pick I don’t see why we wouldn’t just trade with Dallas outright and have to get a third team involved. That seems like a lot of unnecessary gymnastics just to trade for a pick.

I’ve suggested this same trade multiple times in the last few weeks with the exception of Dallas sending JaVale McGee rather than Reggie Bullock to PHX, the Spurs obligated to include a little more capital into the deal for PHX, and taking on Davis Bertans contract to help out the Mavs.
And my target here is Cason Wallace – but depending on how the board falls, it could be any number of several guys like Black, or Hood-Schifino. I had not anticipated either Thompson twin dropping to 10, but Ausar does, it could mean that Wallace moves up. I think Hood-Schifino can be had cheaper and further down the board.
At the end of the day, the any deal will likely need to be made on draft night. I suppose at 10, if the Spurs FP has multiple viable targets, an early deal would be possible. But I think they will assess the board as it progresses, have some scenarios in place with trade partners, and attempt to pull the trigger if the opportunity is there.
Again, I had not anticipated Ausar to be available anywhere we wanted to get in on the action. I thought he’d be gone by 8 at the latest and if he drops to 10, that would be a significant fall.

Phoenix isnt doing that deal, no way. We don’t need Phoenix though, Dallas should take KJ and Devin and give us Bertans and that pick
