Ummmm give the ball to Austin Reaves
It’s been our priority for the last few years. Dennis was supposed to do that in 2021. Westbrook in 2022. Russell in 2023 now.
Id say right now we’re as good as we’ve ever been with Russell/Reaves as the secondary creators and Rui can help with the scoring load. If we can upgrade Dlo reasonably, okay fine, but I’m not sure I see an obvious, reasonable upgrade that’s attainable. Part of Shams’ point with LeBron’s workload during the year is a little misleading. We didn’t have this roster most of the year and AD went down. We’re in a much better spot now.
They should try to flip Bamba+17 for Royce O’Neale+21 and re-sign everyone else. You can try to flip DLo at the deadline if that’s available. For the regular season having DLo and Austin as ball handlers is good enough
We will see if jeanie is truly cheap. No reason we cant bring back rui, dlo, reeves, vand, and beasly plush a MLE. After that vet min. But all those guys plus a MLE should be a no brainer anything less. Lakers will never be on other teams level until they sell the team.
Keep Lonnie and it would be less. This playoffs his workload offensively was much less problem was he had to brains of the court because whenever he wasn’t on the court we lose leads
His workload was already low. He played mostly off-ball the first 2 rounds of the playoffs and we went like 5 games above .500 without him during the final stretch of the season.
We’ve been saying this since he got here. All that goes out the window once he gets the ball in his hands.
Resting LeBron should be easy next year.
The bigger issue is AD. There is nobody to replace him adequately if he goes to the bench or sits a game.
We need a team that can still win with both ad and Lebron playing about 60 games each.
I think that’s well within reach if you can bring back DLo for about 20 and resign Rui for 15 or so. Then draft some good players, maybe even buying a 2nd to get in one more in this deep draft.
A team of DLo/Reaves/Christie/Rui/Bamba with Brown, Jordan Hawkins, Stanley Johnson, TT, etc off the bench should be able to beat the bottom half of NBA teams most nights
We need to fortify our Center position with stretch big that can defend and bruise. That way we can utilize AD at the four and five whenever we need to. The answer shouldn’t be putting him at the 5 all the time. This will reduce his workload, which will reduce Lebrons workload as well.
1) Acquire stretch big that can defend. Acquire a bruiser big that can defend.
Lopez? Trade for Myles? There’s options out there. Can you get a guy that’s ready now in the draft to do this?
2) Resign DLO and trade him mid season if there’s an upgrade. He’s a great regular season player and was decent in the playoffs except the Nuggets season.
3) Fortify our shooting. Beasley failed. Let’s try Hield or another shooter. We need one sniper.
This will reduce workload of both our stars.
