The reality is, there are more way Wanamaker/JMG vet min FAs out there than OPJ/last year GP2 FAs. We were lucky last year that OPJ agreed to take the min to play with us. He got better offers but maybe he liked the culture and probably wanted to prove himself.

That’s why you should cherish last years championship. Should really not expect high level production or acquisitions from vet min contracts. Just temper your expectations and you will be less disappointed.

Also have to rely on young players to improve and become rotational players and buy in. It’s the most feasible way to making a complete team, unless they trade for some players but the FO has been reluctant with trades

People always talk about “draft promises”… Draft heads Vecenie and Hollinger have noted relatively public and delivered on promises are rare. Like one per year-ish.

    Can anyone name a few?

Folks seem to think Bilal Coulibaly, Leonard Miller and Dereck Lively all have promises… been thinking sbout it for a day and I think firmly now none actually do.

Even Coulibaly’s camp saying that is a convenient way for him to avoid doing anything other than play his playoff games and not worry about workouts while playing the market against itself. Just chill in France til Draft day. Have your camp say “lotto promise” have Wemby say “this guy is a top ten obviously… but probably a top five talent”. Yeah I see the angle being played. No promise but someone will bite on the premise.

Google “nba draft promise” and you’ll mostly find lists of players and teams that didn’t get matched up on draft night. Its seems more like a rumor mill mock draft than evidence you can present in court.

(Posted a version of the same comment late yesterday… just curious if anyone remembers promises kept. Poku maybe? That’s the only obv one to me.)
