Will Scoot drop to 3rd? If so shouldn’t we trade for that 3rd pick?

    Yes we should.

But some people are convinced this trash roster we have is enough to compete.

  2. Hussizle

I’ve been all about patience and trusting Masai+Bobby and all the “loyal fan” shit.

But if Scoot is available at 3 and Portland is legitimately trying to compete and taking offers for that pick, then you have to move heaven and Earth to get that pick. Fuck trying to “win” a trade, just pay up and get a franchise PG to build around next to Scottie.

So frustrating to think if we would have sold assets at the deadline we may have had this pick ourselves , plus other frps from this draft , plus next years frp. Ugh

  4. Siakam for Simons, Little, 3 and a future unprotected FRP.

If we can swing that, we do it.

I’m just getting pessimistic that Portland is actually going to trade the pick. We’ll have the best offer, but I’m starting to think they’re just going to keep it.

I think so, but here’s the devil’s advocate. When is the last time a team with a super athletic, slashing PG as their number #1 option won a championship? The guys in mind like Westbrook or D-rose or Ja aren’t #1’s on a champion.

As great as his potential is, his ceiling might still be similar to Siakam which is an elite #2. Or #1 option on a playoff team, but not a championship team.

Does Portland take our best offer though? Like if you trade siakam and another piece, does that turn Portland into a championship contender or just a playoff team in the west?

I just don’t see how Portland trades the pick to be a first or second round team.

I’m a fan of both Scoot and Miller and I lean more toward Miller honestly because he better fits the mold of the modern NBA star…6″9 with a 7-foot wingspan, he’s a very natural shooter with the potential to be an elite shooter in the NBA, he’s also a very good defender, he essentially has all the tools to be a #1 option at the next level and even if he doesn’t develop into a #1 option, I think his floor is still very high based on his raw tools (he’s a shooter), IQ, and high-level defense.

Scoot is nice but anytime you have a PG who struggles to shoot the ball it’s a concern and it’s almost impossible to be a #1 option today unless you can shoot at a high level…he’s a freak athlete, he’s an excellent playmaker, and his work ethic is apparently amazing but again, there are red flags that many in this sub seem to ignore.

Anyway, either of these guys would be great additions to the team! I personally tend to lean more toward Miller but we would be luck to land either.

It’s immensely expensive to move up 10 spots into the top 3, not to mention risky. Even someone like Ben Simmons – who projected to be a surefire dominant player for years and years – has busted.

If this were 2k, then yeah sure, screw it. But the Raptors are also a business, which is why it won’t happen.

  9. Miller and Scoot are both franchise calibre players. Raps should be doing everything within their power to acquire that pick.

Obviously. Don’t need to beat a dead horse about the team in it’s current state. If people want to be blind and hopeful at this point there’s no point wasting energy on arguing about that any further.

But let’s be clear about one thing; we don’t know if Portland even WANTS Siakam at the moment. All reports point to them targeting OG, and you’re not getting pick #3 for him. So let’s not gaslight ourselves into thinking “we could’ve trade Siakam for Scoot” if nothing transpires by the draft. The FO should still absolutely sell (GSW and Rockets will probably target Siakam), but don’t set yourselves up for disappointment expecting Scoot.

  11. _Gourmand

We should trade for that 3rd pick even if Scoot goes 2nd. There’s also a reason why many look at Brandon Miller as the better option, so I don’t think you can go wrong with either pick. I also think Amen Thompson would be a good choice.

  12. guffzillar

I’d trade our entire roster for a point guard that doesn’t suck

  13. Honestly there is a chance that Charlotte drafts Scoot, which would suck, but we also can get Brandon Miller which isn’t that bad.

  14. What makes you think Masai and Bobby would draft the consensus player? They don’t follow the pack as a FO. If they had the 3rd pick, I could see them skipping Scoot and going with one of the Thompsons.

  15. BallerDay

Lots of people buying high on Scoot’s hype. Dude wasn’t that good in the G-League last season, I don’t really understand the can’t-miss/generational hype about him tbh.

  16. guardian416

The blazers need a lot of players to become contenders, I just think they will trade dame and rebuild, the fans also want that.

  17. yt1nifnI

Scoot stock dropped significantly this past year. Due to his poor shooting and questionable defense. I’d rather have Miller who’s a 3 level scorer.

  18. Vandelay23

I think people are setting themselves up for disappointment with this idea. Portland will either not trade the pick, or trade it to some other team.

  19. Because it’s complicated. Nobody knows who Hornets are going to take. Another thing is that Portland haven’t really outright say they are trading that #3 pick. Another complication is that teams have only 5 mins between picks and imagine trying to take calls from a bunch of teams.

  20. TylerScottBall

Yes he will and yes we should.

Pairing Scott with Scoot is a match made in heaven…and we have the pieces to make the trade regardless of what the Blazers want…we could even make the trade with Charlotte instead to secure the 2nd pick if we wanted.

  21. blarghghghghgh

Would you be happy giving up pascal and og if it meant we got ant, pick #3, and sharpe?

  22. Green-Umpire2297

omg I can’t believe this hasn’t been discussed already

  23. Big-Conflict-6825

Obviously we fucking should, what do we just snap our fingers and make it happen? There’s so many factors at play here, these posts are so stupid. I can’t believe y’all even think it’s worth posting. The FO isn’t on fucking reddit going to be like “alright folks, Umbrella_Ella_Ella11 thinks we should trade for the pick with no fucking ideas on how, let’s give them FVV Siakam Barnes and OG because we HAVE to trade for that pick at all costs!”

God damn this is gonna be a long off season for this sub

  24. I’d be down with OG, Simons and future firsts. Those could be gold.

  25. Thealk3mist

Great idea bro. Never was mentioned before on here. Need dat innovative thinking.

  26. Truckermeat

While we’re at it why not trade to #1 and wembywilliams

  27. Ecstatic-Buy-2907

    Here’s some food for thought

The blazers actually have to accept what we offer, and there will be many teams bargaining for the 3rd pick

  28. Throwawayaway23848

For the right price. Don’t want to get ripped off either. Siakam is easily worth more than just the 3rd pick, but the Blazers fans don’t want to even add Simons anymore (and it would still be a bit of a rip for us)

I keep convincing myself that we should resign Siakam, not just cause I love him. We probably aren’t getting our first next year, so the motivation to completely bottom out isn’t really there. In the same note, I don’t think OG is staying, I think he wants a team without a clutter of guys at his spot so he can show what he can really do.

I say we trade OG away regardless, but resign Siakam. I feel he would be much more likely to stay here and it gives us options next off-season.

First of all, we would almost certainly yield that pick to San Antonio, which means we’ll have control of our future picks after (no carry over due to protections). So if a superstar becomes available, we’ll have all of our first round draft capital available (+ possibly more based on trades).

Secondly, Siakam will likely post another AS type season and possible All NBA. Maybe with the glut gone, Barnes and Siakam build a good 1-2 and work great together with Barnes development and becoming the point forward (no Van Vleet, so the ball would be more in his hands), and next year we could focus on another gap.

Or alternatively. If we aren’t good again and want to completely bottom out, we could check the market again for Siakam. Now with another AS type season AND contract control, would likely yield a kings ransom next offseason.
