HUGE news in the NBA as the Phoenix Suns have made it clear they want to move on from star point guard Chris Paul whether that is through a trade or waiving the player, which could lead to an aggressive pursuit of Toronto Raptors guard Fred VanVleet via sign and trade.
The Phoenix Suns are looking to go all in on a championship with the superstar duo of Kevin Durant and Devin Booker and feel Chris Paul is not the right player to complement them, but perhaps the more free-shooting three-point specialist Fred VanVleet is the superior fit.
What would the trade have to look like to make sense for both parties and to satisfy Masai Ujiri’s always aggressive trade negotiation tactics? Why would Pheonix be interested in a sign and trade instead of simply signing the former all-star as a free agent?
Jacob Gramegna breaks it all down right here on Amateur Hour Sports.

Where do you think Fred VanVleet will be playing next season?
I really feel if raptors strengthen their bench with the current starting lineup could be really good. After poeltl addition our starting did do really well
Why? this make no sense
Another team would need to jump in
We just need to rebuild… Trade siakam for the 3rd pick and simons/little. Don’t resign fred and use the money for good bench players. Keep Trent for the bench
A sign and trade is not some regular equal trade lol a player is leaving we don’t have much leverage either take what they offer or don’t
Raptors may want to make a play for Dillon Brooks. He is such a scrapper/fighter and just look at what Matthew Tkachuk has done for the Florida Panthers. If he can keep his pre game chirping down a bit, his feistiness would have a positive effect on the rest of the team who appear to be too mild. Hence Fred Van and O.G. both on the quiet side. Look at the Heat with both Kyle and Jimmy both real scrappers and they are now in the finals with one of their leading scorers being injured throughout a lot of the playoffs.
Just rebuild this dang team, enough trying to mix and match players hoping something works
The last thing the Raptors need is a Chris Paul, especially to the point he wants to play in California and is so injured while his production has been dropping off the last two seasons.
Nopers!
Old and past prime!
without modifying the contracts the chris paul ayton for fred/jak trade doesn't work outright (maybe if u do something with cp3's contract sure) with a gap of about 12.3m the only thing we can really do to balance it out maybe would to be add in boucher so in the end the trade maybe being Freddie/Jakob/Boucher for CP3/Ayton
