[Weinbach] Fred VanVleet is expected to decline his $22.8M player option and leave the Toronto Raptors in free agency this offseason. Chicago, Orlando, New Orleans, Houston, and the Lakers all make sense as teams that could pursue VanVleet.

Not believing anything until I see a Woj bomb

Lakers, NO, and Chicago has no cap room so it means sign and trade? Is that right ?

I think the Bulls would be perfect for Fred- reunited with Demar in his home state, replaces Lonzo who’s probably never playing again

If he just walks for nothing then that’s horrible asset management from Masai and Bobby. Unless they truly believe that he’s damaged goods

  5. Of course he’s going to decline. But the lunatics here will act like that means anything…

Wish him the best. Will always remember his wild floating 3’s and his defence on Curry in the finals. Let’s not get bitter Rap fans.

To quote the great DJ Khaled, “GOD DID!”

Strange that the Sixers aren’t mentioned…

Good get him out of here. Y’all coping hard thinking we’re getting assets for this dude. Masai’s fumble of this season will be felt for a long time.

In case anyone’s wondering, this is just the info from the Marc Stein substack article repeated and rephrased. It’s not this guy’s independent reporting.

  11. All the best to Fred, he had a nice 2019 playoff run.

Its hard to see us being a winning team next year. We also don’t have a draft pick.

I love Fred and will always cheer for him. He goofed me good during the 2019 run when he had a terrible series against the 6ers and then we got Fred Sr. Energy

That said if Fred and the org both want to part ways and try new things that’s fine. I’ll always root for Fred (except against us ofc). That’s not what worries me

What worries me is the lack of guard depth on our roster and wondering who tf we are going to replace him with

So glad we kept him at the deadline so we could at least get one last fun deep playoff run

Love how we couldn’t even get a protected first from any of these teams this trade deadline. Hell some seconds and a meh prospect.
