As a Grizzlies local fan, when West was in Memphis, all locals were excited. Hearing this comment makes me regret West’s time here.
West literally fleeced Memphis by not getting us any talent, prevented Kobe from pursuing the idea, then orchestrated the Pau Gasol trade to the Lakers, signed Brian Cardinal as a mid-level contract, then left back to the Lakers!!
If Kobe had come over, Gasol was here,as was Battier and Mike Miller. A few seasons later we got Lowry, Stoudamire, Rudy Gay, Eddie Jokes, and Conley. That would’ve been a solid cast to make some serious playoff runs.
Unbelievable that West got away with this and admits that he knows it was “tampering”!
