    Depends on your definition of bust. He certainly wasn’t a bust like Bennett, Kwame, Darko etc – guys who just didn’t have the talent to be a star or even an NBA player. He was scouted appropriately – elite NBA talent and a franchise center.

    But he was definitely a bust in that he never really played. It wasn’t his fault, but he still couldn’t get on the court. You can also blame scouting for not detecting his body concerns (same thing for Zion) with misaligned lower body and too much mass.

  2. I wouldn’t call it bad luck, though. It was inevitable with how his body was. There’s no scenario in which Greg Oden gets lucky and avoids injury long enough to have a full NBA career.

    If you want to say it’s bad luck you’d say it’s bad luck because Greg Oden only *almost* had a body that could handle the NBA, but that’s still putting him in the top 1%.
