This week’s episode is a year-end mailbag and we’re psyched to share it. There’s stuff on the draft, free agency and next season. It’s great. In this clip, JJ goes off on the Chris Mannix take that says Nikola Jokic and The Denver Nuggets didn’t go on a great run because he didn’t play The Celtics or The 76ers or The Bucks. That he only played The Lakers, Suns and Heat.

Who da fuq is Mannix? Stop givong them hype JJ.
The nuggets had an easy run…
The craziest thing for me about Denver's run was that they won 75% of their games. In the playoffs
I get that they played lower seeds than most teams that win it but they also absolutely shredded those teams and you play who you play. Its the first non-Warriors team in a really long time to dominate every matchup they had of course it’s a super impressive all time run
Mannix is a joke. He tells you every thing you need to know as to why SI is only relevant once a year and it’s not for sports.
denver was the best team by a wide margin no doubt. but come on its not an all time great run
Everyone has gone through Jokic denial..I did in 2017..his play eventually convinces you of his genius and skill..then when you look at his stats at the end of the game..then the next game..then the next lol.
NGL that take on Beal's shooting is weak.
Hes a career 37% shooter from 3 and shot 40% from 3 over his first four years combined.
His percentages have dipped as a result of having the ball in his hands more often, and of course the injuries he faced last year.
People often overlook how good of looks prime John Wall used to get everyone, of course his shooting percentages will drop from him having to domore himself.
Mannix wipes back to front. 💩
Isn't it actually more impressive to beat the team that beat all the other teams?
Warriors would’ve got their cheeks clapped
JJ you the realest mf ever yo
I never question if JJ is speaking honestly or going for a hot take for views. Same can’t be said for most other media peeps
People forget miami was a 1st seed and made confrance finals last year. Even though they was the 8th seed this year. Anyone with a good basketball iq knew they was better than their seed and they proved it by making finals beating the 1st seed bucks and 2nd seed celtics.
Two things can both be true: 1) You can’t discount any championship, it takes a lot of talent and work, and Jokic’s chip is worth as much as any other.
2) Nuggets faced the statistically weakest regular season records in NBA history.
Both things are true, as long as 2 isn’t used to outright dismiss 1, but it is a fact
Jokic is great, humble, respectful, except when it comes to fan engagement. Attitude was off and those comments of wanting to go home, this is only a job, f the parade will water down his impact this year moving forward.
Common this channel starts to be too tabloid-style first-take alike. Common, JJ, give us your professional takes, not who said what or "best ever" childish arguments
Of course it’s a championship and it’s impressive, but it’s just not an all time great run. He just didn’t beat the caliber teams that Dirk did, for instance. He just didn’t.
The Lakers were the underdog against Denver, but I agree with the rest.
Bradley Beal is a career 37.2% 3 point shooter btw
Tf is jj talking abt with this warriors would have been a better match up thn the lakers…..they little had the nuggets on the ropes in all four games….
So…Steph would have given Murray and Jokic a run for their money but couldn't get passed Austin Reaves and ADisney?
JJ "WNBA low ratings are due to Misogyny" Redick
Most people are more thinking of a weaken and young Memphis team with off the court distractions and Steve Adams hurt. Pelicans we’re a top 4 team before Zion injury. Clipper who were the West favorites and were hurt. Warriors had no team chemistry after Green jab. And those 22 defensive and 85 All stars most are on decline of their careers aka CP3 and Lebron also Gobert and Lowery are part of that defensive teams.
Denver made it look so easy that people still think they aren’t good lol
wow i 💯 % agree with jjs rant over the nuggets run
usually i tell ppl to do better but you just did👍
I do love when Tommy pokes a bad take towards JJ to get a reaction from him. Such a great hosting team
Denver. Best team in the regular season. Best team in the playoffs. Legendary run by Jokic, Murray & co. Haters talk cause they like the sound of their own voice way too much. You win a Chip in the NBA, you earned it.
Quality podcast. Talking about basketball for real.
I’m pretty sure most analysts chose both phoenix and LA to beat Denver in those series. Now suddenly it’s ‘the easiest championship run’ 🙄 sports media in a nutshell
Do you know why so many are running to prop up this finals run and title? Because they all know it will he irrelevant this time next year. Jokic doesnt "love" the game, Denver had the most depth BY FAR so making them out to be the underdog is insanity, and Denver is still talking about their WCF opponent. Give it up, nobody will remember this title.
Please don't go to coaching… We need your voice! You speak the TRUTH!!!
JJ speaking facts as usual, Mannix is a clown
THE WARRIORS WOULDNT HAVE GLTTEN SWEPT IS THE WILDEST NBA TAKE OF THE YEAR
Yeah… but people said this when Giannis won, and now he's the guy jokic "had to go through." In three years when luka wins a title people will stay it wasn't real bc he didn't go through jokic
So, if Denver plays bad next season and gets the 7th or 8th seed but they win another championship, what's gonna be the excuse?
"They barely made the play in and got lucky in the playoffs, they weren't the best team all year long so this championship is a lucky championship"? Like for real, Miami was in the complete opposite position to Denver, they made the play in, had to play a 6 and a 7 series, they didn't sweep anybody, does that made them have a better run than the 1st seed who swept its rival in the conference finals? Come the f on man.
Milwaukee’s shooting is fine. It was the same as 21-22. It was a little worse than 20-21. The big difference for their offense was:
1) Middleton wasn’t Middleton and shot 31% not 41% from three
2) Giannis couldn’t make anything outside 3 feet, including FT. It was BAD
3) Other teams caught up
Giannis went from bring +8, +5, +6, +7 vs league average TS to +2. Khris from +5, +2, +1, -3
Just hard to have a good offense when your top three are league average efficiency. It’s not even about the supporting players at that point. Your stars have to drive your offense, not Pat Connaughton and Joe Ingles and Grayson Allen and Bobby Portis
Giannis faked his injury cause he was scared of Jokic, just like Embiid was scared
Jokic is the best, end of the argument
Number 1 in the west and people still underrate them
Strong over-use of the word "everyone". My thoughts during the 2nd round was the Warriors would've been the best matchup for Denver, mostly due to Steph. Unfortunately, Steph didn't get any help from the rest of the team.
IMO Lakers never had a chance against them and the only way they were going to get wins is if they slowed down Murray, which they absolutely did not do. They way I saw them play against Phoenix, it was clear Murray was the key to Denver's dominance. Apparently, Lakers didn't feel that way. But in no way did I have Lakers getting past Denver. They are just a better team in every way. AD has yet to show he can be reliable. Lebron is 3 happy these days.
I was hoping Heat could at least make it a 6-7 game series off the fact that they also play good team basketball, but their star decided to disappear….
But maybe JJ was referring the the media as "everyone" and not fans that actually understand the game of basketball, and I just took it personal for no reason. 😅
Chris Mannix is an asinine moron. Giannis played against a KD a year removed from an Achilles injury and Suns team making their playoff debut with Ayton as their only big, and the almighty Trae Young. Bcos Giannis looks like Adonis he seems to get a pass into the club. Jokic won’t fit your dumb criteria get over it.
A sweep doesn’t mean it was a bad series. Every game was a possession or two difference in the final mins. Asinine statement to say it was a blowout and bad series
great clip – but I mean little unnecessary disrespect for Beal's shooting – over 37% career and 40% on catch & shoots last year? not bubble Duncan Robinson, but still very good
