I think we probably chase a more mature prospect if we do end up using the draft pick.
We’ve really struggled to develop guys in recent years because our teams have been so deep and we’ve been so focused on trying to contend. It’s a vicious cycle. The more inexperienced a player is, the less likely they are to get playing time, the less playing time they get, the harder it is to build up their experience. This means those project players just get wasted on the bench.
If they’re raw, they won’t see the floor.
Nesmith needed time and patience and we just couldn’t provide either. Suddenly he’s playing a lot better in Indiana. They’re more comfortable riding his ups and downs. Whereas someone like Grant is immediately able to contribute which is why he has been given opportunities.
It’s the same reason GSW has really struggled with a lot of their young guys.
We need someone who can play a little out the gate. Even if it means chasing older guys with much lower ceilings.

Trade this pick. We still have begarin and yam mad at. What will happen to them? They need to see the floor and adding another rookie is not a good idea

I like the idea of adding a junior or senior from a big program than a young raw player. It’s more likely we can find a Brogdon or a Josh Hart that can add value immediately with a late pick.
