Mike Schmitz was a media guy before he joined the blazers. I feel like the media is doing their best with trying to generate more hype around the blazers pick. Maybe even trying to get scoot to fall to Portland also. My conspiracy for today

Between this and Nick Underhill’s reporting yesterday, I think it’s safe to assume Zion ain’t going anywhere.

There was no way he was being traded.

So its BI then

Trading Zion didn’t make that much sense honestly.
KingB53
Alrighty then, not moving BI or Zion
Who we getting with pick 14?

Unfortunate really. This was a perfect opportunity for all parties involved but Griff didn’t have the balls to do what needed to be done. We never gonna win until we have a true culture shifter and despite his talent Zion is certainly not that guy. You see how Jokic came into the league outta shape but he did what was necessary to work on his weaknesses as the truly special ones do. Zion has only exacerbated his weaknesses. Love that he genuinely seems to be a great person with a kind heart and his on the court game is special but I truly just don’t think he’ll ever fully shake those injury concerns. Hope I’m wrong because I doubt we’ll ever get a better trade opportunity than this

Makes no sense if you think of it as trading a big for a PG. Pelicans don’t have any real bigs outside of Zion and JV.
Trading Ingram for Scoot makes sense if you consider he has only 2 years left on his deal and that Herb, Dyson, and Trey Murphy play a similar range of roles, along with the fact that they were the #1 seed with Zion even without Ingram for a good chunk of that. They were 17-12 with Zion. 23-22 with Ingram (23-23 including play-in). And we started to see a really dangerous combo with Zion & Trey.
Trading Zion for Scoot only makes sense if you consider his lack of playing games, but that would also significantly reduce his trade value because Charlotte/Portland would think the same and would want more in a deal for the #2/3 pick.
But I don’t think they trade Ingram either because he’s been the heart of the team the last two seasons. They’d only trade him if he asks to be traded IMO. If they trade for Scoot, it’d be them considering packaging Herb or Trey with maybe Dyson and/or some other role player(s) along with a slew of their future picks.

I’m fine with this. Obviously, if Z can get his shit together- we are a different beast. Wonder how much of this was one of two things: (1) an attempt by the Pels PR team to change the media narrative in the wake of Moriah Mills spilling all of Zion’s dirty laundry out into the open and/or (2) just send a message to Zion that the organization is not afraid to move on from him if he isn’t engaged 100%.
