The stuff that comes from “NBA scouts” or “Western Conference scouts” or whatever never means much to me, because at the end of the day they’re just guessing on limited intel. It wouldn’t surprise me if the Spurs go after CP3 or FVV (yuck), or if they are indeed targeting Black or Bufkin in a first-rounder trade, but it doesn’t sound like that info’s coming from anyone who would actually have firsthand knowledge of the direction.

    This, though

    >Furthermore, two different league sources I’ve spoken to say the Spurs are one of the most active teams in trade talks heading into the draft.

is interesting because it’s actually verifiable. You can’t make secret trade talks by definition. So that’s certainly good news for a lot of us that really want a lottery guard.

  2. Yeah I’m curious what FVV’s price is actually gonna be. If he ends up on the Spurs on a not-outrageous deal, I would not be upset.

The more I hear from Wemby, the more I’m starting to like him as a person almost more than as a player. Dude has that right mentality, like the “Spurs way” has been kinda taught to him through Parker or Diaw or whomever for a bit. The physical tools are crazy, but I think he’s gonna do a ton for the culture.

I wouldn’t mind the Spurs trying to acquire another lottery pick to try and draft either Anthony Black, Cason Wallace, or Kobe Bufkin.

However I’d imagine the Spurs would have to give up A LOT to even get another pick, so I don’t think it’ll be worth it.

I also wouldn’t mind Tre Jones coming back, he was real solid. I’m not buying into CP3 becoming a Spur. I think he’s going to remain with the Suns however which way they handle it.

Mike Conley is also a player I think would be a good player to target for his veteran leadership. He’s owed $24 mil next season on an expiring contract which would be beneficial to the Spurs maintaining high cap space for better future free agency summers. But again, I doubt even Minnesota will just gift him to the Spurs, asking price might be way too high on a guy way into his twilight years
