How do we upgrade at Center?

This was one idea:

Suns reportedly want Brogdan and don’t really want Ayton.

Pacers upgrade at Center, get the guy they wanted last year for the price they wanted him at. They might need a pick here, though, too, depending on how much they see Ayton as an upgrade over Turner.

Celtics get worse skillwise, and truth be told, I don’t love Turner’s game. But we get back better positional balance and, most importantly, the war on Theis comes back home.

You like this deal? You got something better in mind?

  1. Is the plan to play Turner and tank time lords minutes and trade value?

I’ve seen similar ideas floating around here and there. I like the general concept of Pacers get Ayton, Suns get Brogdon, and C’s get Turner.

After that it’s just about the other pieces. I don’t really like the idea of adding more salary if we go this direction unless that salary will be filling a position of need. With Horford, Timelord, Turner, and potentially Grant, I just don’t quite see a spot for Theis’s extra 9mil in salary.

If we are getting an additional player, I feel like someone who can play anywhere 1-3 would make the most sense. I think if we are going back to double-bigs, then PP might still end up wanting to leave.

Theis should go to Phoenix in this situation.

We wouldn’t have any need for an extra big man but they would.

Time lord is fine. Horford is the problem. That is a lot of nonsense that doesn’t even help the Celtics overall

  5. I genuinely don’t think the pacers do Turner for Ayton

  6. I think we should go for someone like Jerami Grant or Beef Stew in Detroit.

Ayton is not an upgrade over Turner.

I don’t see the Pacers doing this, and even then, why the heck would we want 2 centers?

I love me some Theis, but quite frankly, the dude just isn’t worth it anymore.

If we have Turner, Horford, G. Will & Timelord, that is a perfect frontcourt rotation that you can have with Grant Williams slot at the 5 for small-ball seamlessly.

I think it makes more sense to send them Brogdon + PP to the Suns for guard depth, and if CP3 signs with them, they can shift Brogdon over to the 2.

    I’m into Turner.

I just think it’s funny the turnaround this sub has had on him. Remember when everyone refused to consider the Hayward-Turner move?

I just can’t see any positive from the suns in this trade here lol, basically it’s ayton for brogdon
